also included the news that there'll be another Star Wars prequel series centred on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character Cassian Andor.

I loved Rogue One, but a prequel of a prequel sounds derivative.

I'm still sad they canceled Iron Fist just as it was about to get interesting. Give me Daughters of the Dragon and Heroes for Hire, dammit!

Which death are we talking about?
Also we're getting Elizabeth Olsen for 6 to 8 hours.
And possibly a Bucky and Sam buddy show.

Is it called Super Friends set in a New York apartment where they all have sex with each other?

People got way too bent out of shape about Iron Fist.  Yes, he wasn't asian.  That was the goddamn point.

Luke Cage is still my favorite, though

/originally Luke Cage and Iron Fist were written as a superhero duo, an "ebony and ivory" sort of pair

It's not just another streaming service. You're not just getting a mediocre Star Trek with this one.

You're getting Marvel, Star Wars, and all the other Disney properties.

"getting?"

"Disney" is the archaic native Vanuatu word for "out of control ambition."

Don't be that guy. Even if none of the above appeals to you, you have to admit that in the grand scheme of things, it's a pretty impressive offering (for us degenerate, great unwashed, of course).

So Disney is going to go full Disney and beat Marvel and SW to death until no one cares about either ?  Gotcha.

Looking forward to the limited series about the owner of the Schwarma Restaurant at the end of the first Avengers credits.  What's HIS story ?  How long did he sweep for ?  What kind of tip does PTSD Tony Stark leave ?

And I'm sure there's a huge groundswell clamoring for the Rose Tico backstory.

I think Feige was talking about how they're viewing the streaming shows as closer to comics style, long form storytelling. If they do it right, that and the Star Wars shows could be fun. The Mandalorian is looking good in particular.

Does Disney have lucasart? A Monkey Island show would be great.

I would love to see them release a serious comedy drama about a widower who is running his schwarma restaurant he started with his recently decreased wife and he begins to feel something for another woman.  At the end, the Avengers come in to eat and that is all the Marvel reference you get in the movie and no Marvel mention in the promoting.

That would be great. I actually enjoyed 10 Cloverfield Lane btw.

I would love a Damage Control show.
And I was in love with Spider-man: Tangled Web. Seeing Crusher Hogan's story (The Last Shoot) , a random Kingpin henchman paying for the price of failure with honor, Flowers for Rhino, it's kind of fun to see the effects of superheroes From a human perspective.

Bingo. Same with no contract cell phones. You're still paying the same amount but now you have to buy a phone and with today's pricing, midrange start around $400.

I got what I wanted.

I was paying $160 a month so I could watch about 6 shows.

Now I'm paying $50 a month and I can watch all the shows. Bump that up to $75 a month so I can watch everything Disney/Star Wars/Marvel/Pixar, and I'm still far ahead of the game.

Well ok, what streaming services do you get that has the same channels?

You paid $160 for cable?

I did.

Canadian cable TV providers are fairly evil, in the sense that they stagger their good channels among different packages. So in order to be able to watch all the shows that my family wanted to watch, I had to buy three different "packages" in addition to basic cable. Had any of us been sports fans, it would have been more.

Currently, I now pay for the following:
Netflix: $13.99 (gotta have the 4k)
Crave TV: $11.99
BritBox: $8.99
Amazon Prime: $6.58

Plus, my wife buys the Outlander (works out to $3.16 a month) and Doctor Who (works out to $2.49 a month) Seasons passes, so our total monthly bill is $47.20 a month.

So if Disney wants to charge $25 a month for their entire library + Star Wars + Pixar + Marvel, I'm OK with that.
