Hi all!  So completely off-topic but a nice rest from life: my rhubarb plant is not doing well and its leaves are shriveling and drying up (but staying green).  It's an indoor plant because I have no outdoor.  Anyone have any tips on how to make it stop dying?

Hey all!

I'm curious, and I haven't be able to see anything differently so I want to check:

Rod Rosenstein is STILL the Deputy AG, but he is no longer overseeing Mueller.

Is this correct?  Thanks!

Appears so.

One of his attorneys (unknown if personal or professional) was at the DC courthouse today.

Might be more accurater to say oversight is reverting back to the (acting) AG's perview as that position no longer needs to be recused.  Don't know when that goes into effect, though.

Sounds like it has spiders or some other parasite, and might be dryer than it likes (spiders like dry) You'll have to rinse off the dirt, put the plant wet in new soil, and be sure there is some peat moss in there too. Rinse the whole plant off to get rid of hitchhikers, trim off anything dead or sick. Be sure all the dirt/dead leaves goes in the trash in a tied off bag. Move plant to a new location if you can, scrub the area where it was and any tray that was under it to catch water with bleach.

And of course we don't even know if the acting AG can even act as AG. Hopefully Whitaker can't actually do anything or even access Mueller's info before that is ruled on.

I'll be honest I usually chuck the plant into my outdoor compost, get a new plastic pot, recycle the old one and start with a new plant. I used to have palms and ficus plants.. and the spiders were so bad I resorted to sprays--and they still survived. Tough little farkers.

I'm going to assume that Mueller is waiting to see if the court case that was filed against Whitaker is allowed to proceed and if so ask for a stay on discussing anything with him.

It was a gift and I really love rhubarb so I don't want to give up yet.  But I've battled thrips for the past two years on a couple pepperomias and those buggers never seem to go away.

There is some kind of oil wash for thrips that you can google--it was like oil and Dawn or something and you apply it with q tips. That's another tiresome pest.

It's an herbaceous perennial, so it's designed to die back and re-grow.  Depending on how long you've had it, it may be time for a new cycle.

I have no idea how you do that indoors.

/outdoors you just add mulch in the fall

I just got it this year - it used to be an outdoor plant.  I've seen the normal dieback - I don't think this is it because it started happening in July.

Rhubarb is amazing!  I like to cook it down to a stew and add sugar and eat it with a spoon.  And it grows like crazy (except not indoors or in bright sun or strong heat) but it's so stupidly expensive in the grocery store!

I don't know anything about rhubarb, but can commiserate because it appears that close to half of my saffron corms have rotted :(

There's been the one flower so far this year. A couple more plants might flower before the end of the month, but I'm not counting any at this time.

My plan was to wait until the summer of 2020 to dig up and split the corms, but I might do it this coming summer instead.

I'll miss Good Chris and Rachel due to going to a rally, but I may post a pic or two from the site.

So, a brief update of the sidiot and tires for any who care:

Turns out the loan request wasn't 1100, it was 600. With a "promise" to pay me back when WSBF (white supremacist boyfriend) gets a job again, which he's working on doing back in the town they evacuated from (which is exactly what we told them to do 2 years ago)

Also had to screenshot and send her the page for Costco tires showing buying and installing was 650, not 1100.  Took me a whole 5 minutes to do that research.

I swear, either this kid thinks I'm stupid, stupidly wealthy, or easily manipulated.
