Picture it....NFC Title Game....Panthers @ Seahawks, January 2006:

I went to the game with a friend of mine, and when he saw a guy wearing that hat, he asked where he got it.  The guy said that he bought it at the pro shop, but they were all sold out.  Well, my buddy HAD TO GET THAT HAT....so he haggled with the guy, and bought it from him.  I forgot what he paid above retail...maybe $40 or so.  But hey...it was a win win situation for both parties.

Yep. Apparently the loudest claim was still painted on the interior of the tunnel after the Chiefs fandom reclaimed its birthright.

StillInFayettestan: Fake news.

Yes. Because while the story correctly states it was stolen... (The thieves were even fined, but the pole was not returned).

The original was burned down in 1938. The remains were sent back to Alaska... And the "...Tlingit craftsmen graciously carved a reproduction. The new pole was soon dedicated, with tribal blessings, at a Potlatch celebration and has since remained unharmed on Pioneer Square."

Cultural appropriation is actually correct: With the blessings of those who crafted it.

Maybe the Seattle Clams should be the new name.

During the peak of the Seahawks/Niners rivalry, some SF fan posted a meme on Facebook that said something like "It looks like a vagina, for a pussy fan base."

The best comeback:  No wonder the Niners never score there.

though the two are somewhat similar in actuality they look pretty divergent to me

I don't see why this would be an issue unless someone was wearing it in the village

I was being facetious with my comment, of course, but the logo / mascot was directly inspired by some masks and totem pole art.

Whole page here

Personally, I don't find adopting public domain art, even if religious in nature, for your own purposes, to be an issue, but then I'm white and not allowed to have an opinion as to what is offensive on this topic.

For me most football and most team sports are a metaphor for war or the enthusiasm of war or the drumbeat to war and very different from some eclectic Bohemian chick wearing something wacky I'm cool with the Navajo's name in their football team Redskins not so sure about the others

with you I agree

If this canned beet was run by vegetarian women rather than flesh-eating men, this whole space disaster would never have happened. You know right now, we're working to raise the consciousness of the vegetarian minorities with diet sensitivity training, so that people will be able to deal with the foul...

I went to the dome once, and my ears were ringing afterwards. If Arrowhead and the CLink are louder I don't want to ever go.

About 10 years ago, I was at Bears @ Seahawks, and we had 100 level seats.  While holding an empty beer cup, it was vibrating in my hand....due to the sound waves.

Sat in the corner of the end zone 10 rows off the field at the CLink once during a Vikings game.  A couple of times, the noise was literally WAVES, sort of a Wah-wah-wah that pulsed in your ears.  It was really unpleasant and glorious all at once, and yeah, it took an hour or 2 to get my hearing back.
