Human had not seen the South Pole when my grandparents were toddlers, and today we can watch individual icebergs from home. Mind blowing.

It's not square.

mcmnky: It's not square.

The adjective square is commonly used to mean straight-edged with right angles, as opposed to round or curvy.

Ah, something must've kept it from loading. Thanks! That's actually better than I had expected. All of the pictures just showed that one end so I figured the rest was a jagged mess.

Because many people are idiots and don't understand that rectangular is the proper descriptor.

\many people use "ironic" instead of coincidental, accidental, or unusual. That doesn't make them right.
\\others don't use the Oxford comma, bunch of heathens
\\rule of 3

It is square, meaning regular, straight edged. It is not a square, which is equilateral.

Lording your first grade vocabulary over people while calling them idiots is comedy gold.

The iceberg's edges are square. That is, they meet at right angles. The iceberg itself is not square. It is rectangular.

I would like you to read subby's headline again, the one where it says "the square iceberg" not "the iceberg with square corners." Square as an adjective of a whole object doesn't refer to perpendicularity of edges, it refers to shape.

You may be aware of other uses and subordinate definitions for square, but subby, the article, and loads of idiots writing other articles and on Facebook aren't referring to the edges, but the shape. And they're wrong, every single one of them.

Mirriam Webster:

1b: forming a right angle

The dictionary specifically uses a corner as an example, so describing a rectangular shaped iceberg as square is perfectly acceptable.

Not to mention you could also use 3b. You're just erroneously nit-picking for no apparent reason.

/Not subby.
