I don't think Harry's kid get to inherit his Prince/Princess title. They will probably get his Duke/Duchess title.

while I know i have zero chance to ever become part of the family this right here and the fact that under Englands law the queen is the legal parent of all the grandkids and such.  So she can tell the parents that they can't take the kids on a trip or such would doom me anyways.  cause the 1st time the queen tried to interven with planns for the kids or even the kids name she be told where to go stick it.

Play the long game name him/her Carl. Wait for it Carl will name his/her first child Carl also. Now here is the smart part the second Carl isn't Carl II but Carl Jr. Every time the name is said, or written they get paid. Saw it in a movie once.

Prince/Princess is a courtesy title, with the exception of Charles because he is Prince of Wales.  A courtesy title is one people use for you even though you don't have it because of tradition.  Lots of children of nobles are called by a lesser title of their parents to indicate they are part of the nobility, even if they hold no title currently.  William will inherit Prince, and George from him, but the rest can't be.

The Queen's grandchildren get the title Prince(ss) unless, as in the case of Anne children, their parents specifically opt out. William will not inherit "Prince" because he is already a prince. Ditto Prince George.

Thanks to their mom & active duty military service, plus a heaping helping of therapy; Charles was the strict one, as unyielding as his parents were w/ him until after Diana's death when he finally got a clue how to treat children.

I always wonder why there are so many traditional Biblical names that the English royal family never seems to use. Have they ever had a Mark, Samuel, Luke, or Matthew? They had like one John and then dropped that real quick.

"Prince" as a title has a specific meaning, that one is leader of a principality.  The only person in the British Isles with the title of Prince is Charles, the Prince of Wales, since he is invested with overlordship of the Principality of Wales.  The monarchs immediate family get Prince and Princess as a courtesy title - they do not control principalities (heir excepted), but are called prince/princess as a matter of being nice.  You see the same with lesser nobles.  The Count of Farkingham's children are referred as Baronets because the Count of Farkingham has a lesser title of Baronet of Biatchippy, not because the kid is actually a Baronet.

A principality has a prince in charge, but a prince doesn't have to have a principality, just as a duke doesn't have to have a duchy. In my country, Big Ears is always referred to as the Duke of Rothesay, but there is not and never has been a Duchy of Rothesay - although of course there is a Duchy of Cornwall.

Prince Charles is the Prince of Wales (a title he acquired long after "Prince") but Diana was not a  princess, although she was Princess of Wales. As is Camilla, though she doesn't use it.

You are right about courtesy titles for the children other members of the aristocracy, but (some) members of the royal family have substantive titles.

Their baby will be seventh in line for the throne, bumping Prince Andrew, the Duke of York down to eighth place and Princess Beatrice and Eugenie down to ninth and tenth respectively.

So dull.

I say let's get some Shakespearean-levels of intrigue in the queue.  If the Brits are going to keep the RoyalsTM on the payroll,I think we need some poisonings illnesses or jousting helicopter "accidents" to keep the excitement fresh.

Meghan needs to find a way to jump the line.

In Scotland the monarch was elected by parliament from all the offspring of the late monarch and his/her siblings (ie when Liz kicks the bucket the candidates would be Big Ears, Horsey, the Crook, the Gay One (nttawwt), the Earl of Snowdon and Lady Sarah Chatto). It would make a hell of a reality TV programme, no?
