There's a lot of brain chemistry involved in how orgasms work.

Doing the mechanics much justice would be beyond most secondary school science teachers, and appreciating them beyond most secondary school science students, even if they managed to stop giggling long enough to absorb the details.

Hang on, let me get a fresh cup of coffee for this thread. I'll be right back.

Wait. I feel like my education may have been deficient. Do orgasms work differently at school than elsewhere? I've always felt they were the same despite the venue, although admittedly I never experienced one inside a school.

I do wish you'd listen, Wymer. It's perfectly simple. If you're not getting your hair cut, you don't have to move your brother's clothes down to the lower peg. You simply collect his note before lunch, after you've done your scripture prep, when you've written your letter home, before rest, move your own clothes onto the lower peg, greet the visitors, and report to Mr. Viney that you've had your chit signed. Now, sex. Sex, sex, sex. Where were we?

I don't think it's unreasonable to tell schoolchildren in sex ed that both men and women can experience orgasms, or that sex, when done properly, can/should be pleasurable for all participants. But these discussions should be balanced with discussions of the consequences of irresponsible sex (STDs, pregnancy, etc).

It was 1982 or so I took the state required "health class" in school. We covered sex in a 40 minute period class. Not one mention of orgasms took place. We spoke about getting pregnant, some contraceptives and VD.

Come to think of it, during my high school sexual adventures, I was only aware of male orgasms. Thought it was automatic that girls had one during intercourse. (no education about G spots or clitoral stimulation)It wasn't until later, after high school, when my girlfriend at the time passed out after having sex that I realized it was way different for girls...But now that I know....

I was in Junior High, in the Derp South, during the Reagan years. And yet our health and sex ed classes covered pretty much every topic that's on current wishlists (or rightwing ban lists) including fetishes/alternate sexual practices, LGBT issues, STDs & safe sex, and more. Much of it was handled by anonymous question cards at the beginning of class that would be brought into discussion, and while there was occasional giggles it was all taken pretty seriously.

Sex ed in my school covered pretty much everything (late 90s) but it was amusing to see the teacher ask for examples of sexuality. Of course some smart ass mentioned bestiality just to see her write it on the board.

She's suggesting that it be covered during sex education classes. It sounds reasonable to me. It's not as if she's saying that we need to take some time out while covering the Battle of Hastings to discuss the best way to fiddle about with a fanny to get earthquake tremors.

Well in the US and elsewhere (I'm not to familiar with the specific curriculum in the UK) even the best sex ed classes cover little more than reproductive biology with a bonus course on contraception. A good analogy is a drivers ed course that teaches you the workings of an internal combustion engine and little else. Students aren't taught some of the most essential steps of a sexual encounter, including how to initiate or about consent. Or even about pleasure.

A couple years back a study came out (A quick google search did not find it) where they did a survey of female undergrads at various conservative colleges and found that over half didn't think that sex should also be pleasurable for women. Can you imagine if half of men didn't think sex should feel good for them? The world as we know it would implode.

Currently I am at the point in my life where I could care less if I ever had sex ever again.

My libido is at an all time low. I don't see/feel pleasure and its so much work and aggravation courting a woman who has the same sexual interests I used to have just to get our genitals wet for a few minutes.

Honestly, I just don't see the point anymore.

There's nothing wrong with this, outside of the inability of vast swaths of adults to discuss it in a level headed, mature manner. Possibly because they themselves were denied the same education in their formative years.

2018-11-08 10:55:03 AM
I have to give it to the Brits, sex and sexuality was not as open of a discussion during most of the 1900s. Being gay during the 60s in the UK was tough could possibly throw you into jail and forced prescribed medication to cure your "disease". Briton has come a long way from where they where just 80 years ago.

I went to reddit once, a few years ago....couldn't understand how it worked, got fed up and ever went back. Oh the same with 4chan or whatever it was called. There's nothing like the simplicity of Fark. News on the left, comments on the right. Bingo done.

Trust me, Fark is my only social media site and I would never cheat on you. (I don't even have a Facebook account)

My first wife cheated on me and its a feeling I never ever want to wish on anyone else.

Dude, you might try getting soy out of your diet, it's hard as it's in damn near everthing.

Your T levels will increase and you mental state will improve.

It's working for me.

I'm convinced that its the introduction of estrogen producing soy into our diets in the last 20+ years thats the cause of obesity, crappy sex drive and other illnesses (like cancer).

Whole point of female orgasm (Darwin understands) is the resulting easing of passage (love them mucous stranding infrastructures) of sperm.  Then there's the whole Oxytocin effect (bonding may or may not result in 50th wedding anniversaries/endless ambivalence over reporting domestic abuse - let's not even bother with contractions during labor, etc.).

Got to teach the six year olds to understand euphemism and hypocrisy ASAP.  This is performed by parental imprinting - matter of fact/no embarrassment that little folk pick up by osmosis -guaranteed to model on the parent's spontaneously reacting to to questions/behaviors by opening up the seventh seal of "ICK!"  The birth of guilt and silence;  Inadvertent steps on the rancid road to priestly, et al, "grooming".

Instead?  "yeah, they're your genitals , keep your zipper up/skirt down as to do otherwise is VERY impolite if not illegal; iet mom/dad know if anyone mentions your/their genitals in any way (and will likely address such with euphemisms - and feeling uncomfortable about such is an example of what that "shiat detector", we discussed, is for).  The current President is a bad hombre and his references to "grabbing pussy" is an example of euphemistic schtick, we'll talk about that later..."

/read aloud before bedtime?  On Human Nature, Edward O. Wilson (for a start)
//unlike LSD, for example, that one is aware one is under the influence of and learning to "get on top of it" and ride the windowpane like surfing the Mavericks; Sex/Stress hormones are unavoidable and the effects run from the most subtle to overwhelming - you, our little one, will learn how to prevent their running you into fatal errors and to use them to your advantage - just as you know not to leave the sidewalk and go scurrying into traffic - putting others at risk and likely being squashed, yourself

RedRudy: soy out of your diet,

My step daughter is allergic to soy. We as parents have to examine every food item that comes into the house. Soy is in just about everything and so hard to omit from one's diet. So, very aware of the "soy" being evil.

My issues stem partly from my heart meds and my current marriage. Number 3 to be honest. Look, I've come to the realization I am not the easiest person to be with and I'm fine with being on my own. The current mrs actually brought up the "D" word last night. So I am all out of sorts about it.

Feeling depressed, worthless, unsexy and sorry to be bummer. But that's where i am today. Maybe tomorrow will be better...

If you surveyed sex-negative second-wave feminists (a la Dworkin and MacKinnon), you'd find roughly the same percentages with them, but you could hardly call them conservatives.
