Don't stay classy, Mississippi, because you never have in the past.

I'll be happy it's a story if he loses his job over it.

That's a lynching.

I win the megabucks, ill just drive around grabbing guys like that and dropping them off in Baltimore at night.

Yeah, but 100 years ago this guy would have been a Democrat, so... something.

Dealing meth and farking your sister is a highly desirable skillset that makes his job extremely competitive.

Wait, first being a rapist was bad and you could get #MeToo'ed, and now being a racist is bad? What's next, fascism? Or advocating domestic terrorism? We're facing the slippery slope, people.

Not saying it's not a douche move, but so what?

"It was racist and terrible and I hoped no one saw it. I wish I had said something but I held my tongue because I didn't want to give him any attention," she later wrote in a Facebook post about what she saw.

Mission accomplished!!

Voting is pretty important. You want to get dressed up, like when going to Walmart.

this guy should have been barred from voting due to intimidation or something.  They should have made him change shirts at least.

Stil, I am kinda uneasy about the fact that his employer is "investigating".  I mean, sure the message on his shirt is despicable, but he wasn't at work or representing his employer while wearing it.  Voting is as personal as it gets.

Of course, his employer can decide whether to employ asholes after they go public.  Just makes me uneasy, is all

I'm shocked to hear this happened in a state where 46% of republicans recently said interracial marriage should be illegal.

That's not a one-off.  There are many more shirts like that, and people who will wear them, and have worn them.

It also requires either a print shop or an online site to create and distribute them.

It is disgusting.  If you encounter someone in one of those, be big fat asshole about it to them, and don't take off your rings.

wingedkat: Voting is as personal as it gets.

Public intimidation of minorities through death threats is not personal.

The primary function of lynching in the pre-Civil-Rights-era South was to intimidate blacks from attempting to vote. The claimed justification was almost always in defense of white women's sexual honor, but the target was usually a black man who had attempted to register to vote, and the purpose was to terrorize the black community into staying home on election day. Wearing this shirt to the polls is absolutely a deliberate invocation of this practice.

If his employer has hired, buys from, or sells to a single black person, then they absolutely have the moral right to ensure that they're not forcing their employees or clients to deal with a racist who publicly threatens to lynch them.

WTF, does that guy think he has the freedom of speech or something?!?!

Dybbuk Schmybbuk: Yes, and...?
Not saying it's not a douche move, but so what?

Because racist white Southerners used lynching as a widespread terrorist tactic to prevent black people from voting, within living memory?

Because Trump-era white-identity conservatism is increasingly returning to its pre-Civil-Rights beliefs and rhetoric, and is beginning to again adopt racial violence as an increasingly widespread phenomenon?

Because terroristic threats are often followed up by committing actual terrorist attacks?

Sure he does.  Freedom from consequence thereof, however, is a different matter.

How much is it worth in terms of righteousness to catch an assault charge upon a declared asshole?

It's at least a few nights, bail, probation and community service.

What's the better way?

G-force: WTF, does that guy think he has the freedom of speech or something?!?!

What makes his free speech more important than anyone else's? What part of the first amendment implies that criticism of others is illegal?

This guy wasn't removed from the polls, and the photo hasn't been removed from the media, so the first amendment is working exactly as intended for everyone involved.

No clue. Its a stones-throw relatively speaking from where I live but I stay the hell away from that crooked county. The only great thing about Bruce is the guy selling BBQ by the Sonic. Ive bitten fingers inhaling one of his pulled pork sandwiches. Dat sauce!

But yea, fark this guy. I hope he gets a text right about now telling him to not expect to work tomorrow, and that his shiat is already boxed up for him.

He should run for office.

Trump is the racist encouraging this. Anyone at this point that denies that Trump is racist is either stupid or lying.

well, the article already doxxed him, and he's supposed to be an RN.  Wonder if credentialing or nursing industry organizations have anything to say about this.

He may not just be fired from the hospital.  He may never be a nurse again.

I'd imagine his black patients got great care, don't you?

Violence only makes him a martyr, and the person throwing the punch will be held up as proof that all liberals are violent.

While I understand the motive behind the 'punch a nazi' meme, even joking about it is giving credibility to the claims made by the far-right.

So he can go on welfare?  But he hates welfare recipients, and views them as lazy.

Tom Marvolo Bombadil: I'm shocked to hear this happened in a state where 46% of republicans recently said interracial marriage should be illegal.

7 years ago.  Hopefully some of them had daughters and sons ran off to have interracial marriages.  After living in the south myself, I wouldn't be surprised some democrats would share that same view in Mississippi.   Sad really, it isn't just one side keeping that divide going.  Although, only one side started it.

Some random idiot wears inappropriate and disgusting shirt to the polls and you give him precisely what he wanted for doing it... National attention. International even since I'm sure Fark gets more than a few visitors from outside the US.

I can understand someone owning a Confederate battle flag because Civil War historical reenactments aren't doable without a lot of people who are willing to play the Confederate side.

Openly displaying the Confederate battle flag in any other circumstance is not cool and basically says "I'm a racist asshat".

Prior to becoming a nurse, Hickey was a Memphis police officer.

This is my shocked face. A racist police officer? Theres no racism in the police. Well, at least he's not kneeling.

charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was found with a 17-year-old girl and open alcohol

Some very fine people, indeed.

I'd bet the reaction to a shirt depicting burning the American flag would be completely fine at the polling place. Freedom of speech and all. The tolerant Christians of the right would certainly not have any problems with such a thing.

According to CNN, most states (including Mississippi) have no law against photos inside the polling station.

Haha!  Because it's funny to assault someone who has different beliefs than you just because you disagree with them.

Also, anyone who disagrees with you should he fired from their job and publically smeared.

I don't agree with the guy's shirt, but jeebus farking Christ....not everything someone does that you don't like should mean bad thing must happen to said person.

How about you live your life, and let others do the same.

When I was a college freshman I told a guy from East St. Louis that I really liked and respected that I'd never say yes to anything more than friendship. I wasn't attracted to him and that was that.
