I don't think Sean Payton is the kind of guy to put up with any of Dez' former antics.  Unless you're referring to his penchant for dropped balls- then I kind of agree with you.

Also, Brees would a wide receivers' dream, I would think.  High percentage rating of completions, Bryant is going to get lots of chances.  It might be a good match, time will tell.

This.  He regularly puts the ball right on the money.

It is more than that. Most ok QBs can put the ball on the hands. Brees has this masterful way of putting the ball where your guy can catch it, the defender can't, and you don't have to stop moving to catch it. He's always been one of the most accurate throwers to ever play the game, and he understands how to use that accuracy.

It's weird that he's rarely mentioned in the Brady/Rogers/Peyton Manning tier of QBs. He's just as good as them, has the same number of rings as the last two. Rogers can avoid more (and throw on the run) and nobody but nobody could read a defense like Peyton Manning, but neither of them can put the ball on the dime like Brees can, and has for years. If they can get back to the Superb Owl this year, it will basically punch Brees' first round HoF ticket.

Yeah, that's putting the ball "right on the money" and it's what all of the top QBs do.

Smarted, sad that we only get one. Brees absolutely deserves to be in those discussions and the HoF when he calls it a career.

Perception is weird. Manning was always slagged for a lack of playoff success, yet Aaron Rodgers rarely gets that thrown at him.

But Dez is a diva who complains when he doesn't think he's getting his fair share off balls.  That doesn't sound like a good fit for a Brees offense.

I don't think Dez will be an issue.  He knows he needs to be on his best behavior to get a good contract next year.  If he cannot stay right in a Brees offense, he's essentially done as a player.

I suspect part of the discussion was that Dez needed to understand that he wasn't going to be the one and only. Brees spreads the ball around. He will throw it to anyone and everyone eligible (and they even played around with him receiving a pass from Hill last game). Thomas isn't getting replaced. Kamara isn't going to stop catching balls. Dez will be one of many. That being said, Drew Brees is a wide receivers' dream because you are going to get beautiful throws and he will get the ball to you if you show you can do your job.

Dez will do what Ted Ginn, Jr. was supposed to do this year. Ginn was clearly not able to run his routes as expected, and Dez will be able to fill that hole. If he can catch up (and I think he can) on the playbook, he is going to get some big opportunities.

Because when I think of precise route running, I of think Dez Bryant.

You don't have to make it to a precise location with Drew. He will throw you open. You do have to make it to the general area in which he expects you. Ginn was not making it downfield at all or was not making the play for the ball. My guess is the knee was already bothering him, but who knows. Could just be Ted Ginn being Ted Ginn.

Brees is a great QB, but no QB is going to make a WR who runs rounded routes open.

Dez has sucked the past 2 years - that is why he's been on the sideline all season.

His first round HOF ticket has BEEN punched. Jesus, look at all the records this guy has broken. It's to the point where I can't even keep up with all his stats anymore. As for being in the conversation of greatest QBs, I feel that he is. He doesn't get the ESPN or other national press knob-slobbing that the other guys get, but he's clearly a household name and anyone who knows anything at all about football is forced to respect him as one of the greats.
I think it's just fashionable to ignore the Saints until you no longer can. In 2009 it was when we shellacked the Pats on national TV. This year, it's taking down the Rams that's forcing us into every conversation about the NFC. But by next year, SB champs or not, the Saints and Brees will return to their under-radar position until they piece together another 7 or 8 game streak.

I dunno, man. This ain't Dallas. There's no room in the Dome or on Airline Drive for egos and antics like Bryant's. He knows he's on a short leash. He knows he's surrounded by Thomas and about 843 other eligible receivers, including all those screens to Kamara. I'm surprised Thomas Morestead hasn't caught a ball from Brees yet. Hell, I'm surprised my Alaskan grandmother hasn't fielded at least one Brees pass.

Given the terms of the deal, I like the acquisition.

Dez wants a ring. You think he's gonna blow that by being a diva? I don't. He's gonna be a blast to watch with Brees, so enjoy it instead of crying about having to root for a former Cowboy. He's got a contract through the end of the year. He's had to sit out half a season. He's ready to play & I think he'll be on his best behavior.

I certainly hope so, but we see the HOF voters, and everybody seem to ignore Drew Brees for some reason. Really, for best QB in the game, it's him or Brady, in the last 10 years, those two or Payton Manning. I don't think Rogers is in the running (though he's certainly top 5 in the last decade.)

lolwut.

Brees doesn't have the luxury of playing for what I think we all agree is the best coach and FO in the league (we're often very good, but not consistently Pat's good). You can go to the old folks home right now, pick out a heavily medicated octagenarian, plug him in at RT and somehow, some way he'll be a Pro Bowler by the second year.

Even during three 7-9 seasons Brees was breaking records. Even breaking his OWN records. That the Saints have seldom provided him with service on the other side of the ball isn't his fault. He's one of the best to have ever played and would likely have the same # of rings Brady has were he playing up there.

Also, have you seen Rodgers this year? His QBR and completion % are significantly down, as is his is overall performance. Meanwhile the old man in NOLA just keeps quietly carving it up virtually every Sunday. If he weren't a Saint he would dominate all NFL press.

Everyone knows Rodgers isn't the problem.

30 for 30 will have a docu called "the dynasty that never was" regarding rodgers' packers teams in ten years.

McCarthy rested on one SB and capers and ted Thompson are trash. Who are the big free agent signings there with Rodgers in his prime? Peppers? Jimmy graham? Muhammed Wilkinson? They drafted 5(!) WRS this last draft.

Who's they let go? AJ Hawk, tramon Williams, Kuhn, Micah Hyde, Greg Jennings, and Aaron's favorite receiver and best friend jordy. And this last year two of his linemen's for the last ten years. Unreal.
