I can only imagine how many of these rubes dutifully ignored ACA backed insurance to spend money on this shiat.

Sometimes I wish I was evil enough to scam people like this.

Regular insurance doesn't have a $3,200 lifetime cap.

I thought the case was already there.  Even if the Dems win today, the SCotUS could still release insurers from having to cover prexisting conditions in the next couple days.

Your concern was that fake health plans would appear that weren't on the exchange? What gave you the impression Obamacare would make that any more likely?

I mean, maybe you're right, I just don't see the connection. Presumably this scam would have worked as well before the advent of the exchanges - then, as now, health insurance exists and is expensive.

This isn't new.  This sort of thing has been going on for decades.

The Affordable Care Act actually made plans like this illegal (although it sounds like this insurer also engaged in fraud, besides just having a terrible plan).  Back in the day, it was buyer beware.

I remember when I was in college in the '90s and the scandal in our student newspaper was that the university was actually promoting one of these bogus health plans to students, which basically looked great until you found out in the fine print that they didn't pay for any inpatient or emergency services at all, only a couple of routine office visits per year, and the company was making something like an average 300% profit on every student that enrolled.

They love collector coins and cheap hats so how about a MAGA hat collector coin?

TrumpCare: It's basically an HSA with a negative double digit interest rate.

It was a plan which one, and only one medical procedure for enrollees - prefrontal lobotomies.  Even though your body might be ravaged by any all form of disease or malady, you were rendered insensate to whatever.
