I've known the pirate for 20-plus years and wrote the newspaper story when he got arrested for firing that gun (charges were dropped). Super nice guy. Also, I'm pals with the guy toward the end explaining Florida Man, even mentioned me in the acknowledgements in his most recent book.

people do some weird shiat here but it's not like we are the only state that has it's share of weirdos that get arrested. It just gets reported much more often.

As messed up as Florida is, our open-records laws (Sunshine Laws) are among the most liberal in the country, although the Legislature tries to chip away at them every year.

Crazy really is in the water in Floriduh. Stay long enough and your mind melts from the humidity. Most employers are insane at thinking that $8 - $10 an hour is a reasonable offer for skilled labor, one of the main reasons I moved to Texass where I get paid what I am worth, roughly 4x that with benefits included.
