Let's not jump to conclusions without all the facts. Some are saying he could have just farted and was trying to save them from noxious poo gas. If true, he's the real victim here for trying to be the hero with a gun that he clearly is. If everyone packed heat, you'd never have to worry about stinky heat wafting in your face.

Sounds like he got community service, had to surrender his guns, and if he doesn't then he has to face prosecution. On a side note, he also got canned from his job so I bet he wishes he still had those guns so he could sell them!

Yep...the private sector, at least, isn't completely Trump-supporter levels of racist...yet.

/odds-on favorite for next SCOTUS pick, though

I would think the smell of fresh urine soaking his pants would have been enough to dissuade them from riding the elevator with him...

How many years would have have gotten if he was a black man who pulled a gun on four white kids?

/Assuming he was not shot dead by the cops.

Guys like that smell that way all the time anyway, so they probably were being polite by ignoring it.

Let's take a look at this "responsible" gun owner:

Children's low center of gravity can create dangerously wobbling on an elevator if they refuse to disperse themselves evenly.  He needs a steady ride if he's to shoot speed holes through the walls during the trip to make it go faster.

From a story linked in TFA

"The students told investigators they were invited to the complex on Sept. 8 to visit a friend when they encountered Crandall, who said he inadvertently pulled the handgun out as he removed his keys from his pocket. "

See, understandable mistake.

/6 month without possession of a gun?  His concealed carry permit should be voided forever, he abused it.

Florida is weird (duh). In Maine criminal threatening with a firearm is 5 years in state prison.

It was an elevator. They might have been getting down.

Just as a point of information, it was four college students, not four ten-year-olds.

Not saying it was okay to pull a gun - he should have closed the door behind himself and not let them into the building.  If it is a lock-controlled building, you don't let people you don't know in.  Period.

This.

He let the outter door slowly close automatically and they grabbed it and followed him in which is shady but not necessarily threatening. If he went to pull the door closed behind him and they put a foot in the door or struggled with him to keep it open then it's a different story.

It is interesting that only one of the four guys, who was shooting video, was like "hey uh... he's got a gun... let's gtfo of here..." while the other three remained in his face.

A Florida man who flashed a gun while trying to prevent four mostly African-American college students from getting on an elevator with him has avoided prosecution by agreeing to serve 50 hours of community service and pay a $100 fine.

Are they saying these Americans are mostly African?

Granted this is only speculation, but nobody records their life 24/7. The most logical reason to pull out your phone and start recording in these situations is because you feel there might be a need to have some video evidence or proof of something. Given that, it's not a stretch to assume that whatever transpired before the video was actually started by the older guy, and the arguing that we see in the video was the white kid sticking up for his friends.

It's also not a stretch to assume they would provoke him in hope of getting a viral video out of it. Go to the mayday protests in Seattle and you'll see that every few minutes. Somebody will walk up to a cop who is just standing there and start yelling something like "You threatening to taze me bro?  Why? What did I do?" while their friend starts recording.  Or at any rate that's what I saw half a dozen times three years ago.

Clearly, it's a case of an IRresponsible gun owner. Maybe he's just stupid; I can't tell from this distance. But if he had any education about law, ethics, or safety, he would have learned how wrong his action were. His parents failed him; his schooling failed he; and if he has any friends, they failed, too. Now, he has a little education; I just hope it's enough.

2018-10-31 07:58:35 PM
omfg seriously? Their friend should have come down and gotten them, instead of them trying to sneak in with someone they didn't know. These building have locks for security, the elevator needs a key for security. And he was completely justified in pulling his gun, when 4 large college age students start mobbing up on a 50 year old man. saying things like "don't touch me. Go ahead I dare you. Touch him, touch him." With the white kid definitely violating personal space and boundaries circling the guy inches away. He also didn't "pull" a gun on anyone. it was held in a non functional non threatening way.
