Russia's Investigative Committee said in a statement that its chief, Aleksandr Bastrykin, took the investigation into Shishkina's killing under his personal control and ordered the Main Investigative Directorate to probe the killing.

Their supremely capable and efficient investigators have already determined that the GRU (or whatever it's called these days) absolutely was not involved in this assassination, and that evidence points to the involvement of opposition figures who are the really corrupt people, totally unlike Putin's best oligarch and organized-crime buds.

I find it strange someone whose job is dangerous is apparently left without security yet in the US the education head gets a whole team of guards.

Geez.

As markets keep turning into a mess, and with Putin's approval numbers falling over that pension stuff, I fully expect a move right around midterms. Putin will do something crazy and Trump will be completely obsessed with the midterms, likely ignoring him.

Hey, here is a thread about the unbelievable corruption in Russia, so naturally we already have compulsive masturbators in her seeding up this thread with Hillary Clinton and Seth Rich loads because it's the only way conservatives can get it up anymore.

Personally, as an American, I can't  wait for the Putin regime to collapse, as well as their proxy "allies" in places like Syria, Belarus, and the United States.

To be fair, there is also the compulsive masturbators seeding the thread up with 'Republican are just as corrupt' loads.

It's like a perfect circle jerk of hate.

Can't we just all agree, that Russia might be a bad place to be a corruption investigator?

I commend those that are strong and brave enough to stand up to corruption.  I really do.

But in the face of how easily you could get shot dead, and no one be held accountable...  It really makes me wonder why so many people, in Russia, do it.

What I mean is, if you you insist on fighting an impossible foe, you should probably hire top quality body guards.  Because you will do no one any good when you are shot dead.

Personally, as a human being, I get a little... *Concerned*when thinking about regime "collapse" in nations with vast numbers of ready-to-fly nukes. Just because it worked out OK last time around doesn't mean that would always be the case.

Of course, while the transition from the Donald Trump administration to the Kanye West administration will almost certainly be peaceful, we all know Putin isn't going to go down easily.

Then again, Putin is 66 and nobody lives forever, so that's a bridge we're going to be coming to sooner or later.

Truth, but ultimately his global kleptocracy has got to be removed eventually. I mean, with the fact that Russians spend over half their paychecks on FOOD, much less other basics Rent and medicine, I believe the pension age increase was a step too far. Eventually, either Putin is going to start a war to grab that Sweet Ukrainian Wheat and those Baltic Ports he needs to actually stabilize his kleptocratic economy, or he's eventually going to be taken out.

Riche: Of course, while the transition from the Donald Trump administration to the Kanye West administration will almost certainly be peaceful,

Now that's how you get a smart AND a funny.

But if you've accomplished at least one or two good things like getting out some important truth before the powers that be get around to your murder, then you've still had a meaningful life.

There's also the martyrdom; When it comes to national and international news I'm much more informed than the average American, yet I hadn't heard of Shishkina and her very important work until her murder.

Sooner or later Putin is going to get a very harsh lesson in the Streisand Effect. And that is going to be a glorious time indeed.

THIS.

Riche: Sooner or later Putin is going to get a very harsh lesson in the Streisand Effect. And that is going to be a glorious time indeed.

This is already happening...It's happened since the Russians denied the "Little Green Men" in the Crimea. It's happened during the 2016 election, and in Syria. Apparently, the "Oddly specific denial" isn't part of Russian TV tropes, and I've always found that hilarious watching the garbage pumped out from RT.

oohpah: How long did Castro last? Putin's life support system is probably much better.

True, but I would wager Putin has more enemies. Note that it was far more politically important for the US to keep Castro around as a punching bag than in staging a second Bay of Pigs. There aren't that many places or institutions *better off* by having Putin around. Eventually, even he's going to piss off the wrong multibillionaire oligarch or extremist nation.

Russians stick to killing their own for the most part.  It's a warning that's clearly working on a lot of people.
