The correct answer is none. But if you must, hazelnuts.

Walnuts.
Pecans.
Macadamias.
Forget the chocolate chips.

My mom makes ones with peanut-butter cookie dough, chocolate chips and crushed peanuts.
They're really quite amazing.

Oh my God you're right...

I don't make them, but as an Oregonian whose family picked filberts, why the ACTUAL F*CK aren't my family members who make such cookies using hazelnuts?! I've seen almonds, peanuts, walnuts, pecans, and at least one other...... never hazelnuts. WTF??

Chocolate chip cookies are fantastic.  I actually have a baker's dozen of oatmeal cookies I made last night I'm taking to work today.

I'm allergic to tree nuts so there are never any nuts in my cookies

Umpqua Dairy released an ice cream in honor or Oregon's 150th birthday celebration on Valentine's Day.

The dairy has made an ice cream especially for Oregon's big birthday bash going on throughout the year. The Oregon 150 is honey ice cream with Oregon hazelnuts and huckleberry syrup.

The absolute best cookies are not chocolate chip cookies of any kind. What they are is something more like thin shortbread cookies, only made with a large amount of ground walnuts (no chunks) and sandwiched with jam reduced with some lemon juice for tartness and topped with bittersweet chocolate ganache. Some recipes call for almonds instead of walnuts, but that is a mistake.

DO NOT PUT NUTS IN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!!

2018-10-12 06:07:27 AM
Pecan nuts are sweet and soft. Macadamia nuts also but maybe knocked around a little before adding.
I remember having a choc chip and Brazil nut cookie as a kid. it was so delicious it was like heaven.
/turns out I'm horribly allergic to Brazil nuts.

Wow, then it really almost was like heaven!

Instead of putting nuts in your chocolate chip cookies, put chocolate chips in your oatmeal-raisin cookies. Give the nuts to the squirrels.

The butternut or (white walnut).  Hard to find but excellent for chocolate chip cookies.

Toast the pecans first to guarantee awesomeness.

Cocao nibs are also awesome in chocolate chip cookies.

I always keep slivered almonds handy just in case; but, if I know I'm baking cookies, it's macadamia nuts for sure.

I was wondering about Brazil nuts. A bit harder than Macadamias, but still a nice flavor. Thankfully, I'm NOT allergic to them. May need to try them out.

Oh, Brazil nuts are gorgeous. Soft and caramel like, like the chocolate of thr nut world. A little like pecans but without the sharpness occasionally found on the skins.

:(

I don't make chocolate chip cookies with nuts. I don't put them in brownies, either. But if someone else is making the cookies? I like walnuts the best. The texture is right.

If there are nuts in the cookies, they aren't "chocolate chip cookies" anymore.

Well, you're wrong, and you should probably be ashamed of yourself for the amount of wrongness you are.

I have to land on the side of not putting nuts in my "chocolate chip cookies". They would be 'chocolate chip and (blank) nut cookies' not CCC's.

I need to bulk up a batch of cookies. Looking for a subtle flavor and to increase the volume 10% or so.

Also I have read that storing the 'dough' in the fridge for a couple of days deepens the flavor (take out of fridge about 30 minutes before you bake them).

In multiple places, I saw the argument that chocolate chips are like pre-grated cheese, drying out, going stale, and covered in wax/starch to prevent them from sticking to each other. Since high school, I've always gotten bars and chopped them up myself. Also gets little flecks of chocolate to "freckle" the dough.

Sorry I misread your post. I thought you meant 'bulk up the flavor'.

Have you tried oatmeal for bulk, toast in the oven or in a saute pan on low (for a little extra  flavor).

I must try this.
