I would bet ten thousand dollars we're going to see a followup link on Fark about this guy, and it's not going to be good.

Parents email him, he said. Autistic children are calmed by the YouTube videos. He sent one boy a piece of the King's fur. The mother cried.

So basically, it's a kidnapping situation, and that kid made the mistake of calling the cops when he was told not to.

Everything about this article is just... wow. The writer really knows how to deapan the details, like the "expert in Texas" with the hippo in the living room.

But really I think the core of the article is this: "Parents email him, he said. Autistic children are calmed by the YouTube videos."

That is because this man CLEARLY has Asperger's Syndrome, and Spectrum knows Spectrum.

I never cared for the ani-rat and gang back in my day, but I absolutely was fascinated by the mechanics and programming involved. I recently started on something like this as a high-end scarecrow to get rid of the gorram Thrashers from my garden.

Nope. We already know his object of desire, this man will never pose a threat to man or woman or child.

Animals however... yeah. Local zoo will probably want to aim one of the lion pen cameras out to the crowd.

IDK.  A friend of mine did that Wal Mart gig for a while.  Decent money for him, but man that job was a meat-grinder.  It broke him.  I can see where someone recovering from that particular trauma - yeah, I said "trauma" - could get into something a bit off.  Really, it's just 1980s robotics.  A step up from collecting and restoring pinball machines.  If he can actually function in society after that Wal Mart thing, more power to him.

"Lure single moms to his bedroom"?

He's going to get dates? I think he could've spent less on another kind of robot, and she'd have a much lower electric bill....

It's pretty obvious he's farking "The King". Or being farked by? Which totally explains the $400 electric bill.

/I'll just leave this here: Animatronic gang bang.

During my playthrough of the new FNaF spin off, Five Nights at Florida Man's, I managed to beat the final night only to be attacked after 6 am by a naked man screaming about "The King".  Thankfully by remaining still I was able to confuse Florida Man who then ate an Alligator's face while I escaped.

More power to him.  He's got a hobby that doesn't hurt anyone, and he's preserving something from the past that could have been lost forever.  Yes, it's an anamatronic lion, so what.  There are museums with shiat like this saved from a century ago.  100 years from now somebody will be going "Cool, that's neat." What's so different than looking back at this?

I think there's a difference between a hobby and a monomaniacal fixation on something. This particular fixation has a definite Michael Jackson-esque obsession with childhood element to it, which makes me more than a little suspicious.

I'm not saying he should be locked up, but I sure as hell wouldn't leave any kids unsupervised around him.
