I don't disagree.

My concern is with crooked cops who suddenly find millions of child porn everywhere, or who use things that are very obviously not it just to have 'fun' with civilians.

There actually is a thing of planting child porn on computers by hacking them. Damn near impossible to prove and and is easy revenge.

That said, there are plenty of people who go out of their way to get it.

Nope, jackholes like this one need to continue being overachievers who make it that much easier to put them away for a very long time. This is one of those situations where 'for the good of society' really means something.

That he was given bail at all, considering he faces 16 charges- varying from child porn to manufacture of WMDs- does give me pause.

Except for the time/date stamp which shows they were all uploaded when  the cops were at the house rather than over a period of time well before that. Don't get me wrong. I'm not denying that crooked cops will plant "evidence". However that's not the case here, and computer stuff is much harder to fake than just uploading some files.
