Time to film that live action Fallout movie, it seems.

Yikes. Maybe I haven't been following the news closely enough, but this one seemed to come out of nowhere. It is fast moving. The eye is already in North Carolina.

At this point, I'm leaning away from "Ha, ha, you chose to live in a hurricane-prone area. Tough luck" and toward "We're all in this together and you took one in the face."

I hope relief efforts will be what they should be. Looking at you FEMA.

The Panhandle is chock full of unrepentant racists who worship God Trump, so they will get tons of aid.

I have it on good authority that the hurricane was sent by God to punish Trump supporters. At least that's what some people are saying. I don't know. Could be. You tell me.

The important thing is that we all grandstand on what we imagine to be the politics of the individuals who just had their lives destroyed, so that we can win an argument on an internet message board that had nothing to do with the original topic.

I like to do this all the time, it's why I start screaming about Dota 2 every time I go eat at Denny'shiat a grand slam with that one, lol.

Yesterday I had a bad feeling this might kill hundreds, based on the damage and how many people reportedly decided to ride it out.  If it stays at 2 I'm very happy to have been wrong.

That is remarkably low.  I think more died in Irma.  Let's hope it stays put.

2018-10-11 12:06:40 PM
This is one time when use of the descriptor "apocalyptic" doesn't quite qualify as hyperbole.  I'm glad the death toll was low (though any deaths are terrible, but with a monster 'cane like this one, such a low number is damn good), but I wouldn't be surprised to see damage figures in the hundreds of millions if not billions, and cleanup efforts are going to take a year at least.

There are so many areas they haven't even started looking yet, from what I have seen/heard there are some smaller town ares on the coast that no longer exist except for foundations, that's not a good sign :(  I HOPE it stays at 2, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

God doesn't punish good Patriotic Republican Americans. There must have been a few queers living in Mexico Beach - that's the only explanation.

I can't even begin to imagine a storm of this intensity and I've been through plenty of them over the years. Earlier today I saw pics of train-cars that were knocked sideways OFF THE TRACKS. We're not talking just "wind"---we're talking wind speed sufficient to knock over trains. I'm actually not sure if they were knocked over by wind or storm surge but the area where they were isn't, I think, particularly close to the water.

Look on the bright side. When they rebuild (and you bet they will) the buildings and homes will be able, to just maybe, survive the next hurricane, maybe.

But the majority of the idiots will STILL stay there and stick it out next time.

When I first came here, this was all beach. Everyone said I was daft to build on a beach, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the ocean. So I built a second one. And that one sank into the ocean. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, and then sank into the ocean. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Son, the strongest trailer park in all of Florida.
