That's probably going to get in the way of the Steelers' plan of tanking Bell's value by running him into the ground, if only to make sure they don't look bad when they don't resign him.

I mean at this point it's a s#!tshow regardless.  Who knows, maybe the portion of the season Bell sat out will mean he doesn't sit a quarter of the season with an injury or suspension.  In 5 years he's played a complete season once.

He's a very talented running back, in an era of the game that really doesn't care if you have talented running backs.

Honestly, based upon everything that Bell has said so far, that is probably his dream scenario.  Return to the active roster and start getting paid, but no risk of injuries in games.  I'd imagine that Bell would be perfectly fine if Connor played.  Hell, Bell would have probably reported at the beginning of the season if the Steelers would have promised to not play him.
