Good on them for rescinding the offer, this asshat should never be a law enforcement officer of any kind ever again.

Also, brilliant headline Subby.

Good lord that was a perfect headline.

Also: good news!

The chief didn't rescind his offer, the cop himself decided to withdraw his application. The chief is still an idiot.

Of all the police shootings to make news, I never understood why this one didn't become a bigger deal.  If the cops suspected someone was walking around with a gun, policy would dictate that you take up a defensive position, shielded by your car, while ordering the person to drop their weapon.  Instead, these cops went all Dirty Harry and rolled right up on the kid and started firing before he had a chance to obey any commands.  I'm convinced that the media drives the news cycle, not the facts.

From the article: Activists, including from the Cleveland chapter of Black Lives Matter, contacted Bellaire officials and residents in the days after Loehmann's job offer was made public. Rice and BLM organizer Kareem Henton credited those efforts for getting Loehmann to back out of the part-time job.

"This wouldn't have happened if it were not for outside forces putting pressure on Chief Flanagan," Henton said.

I would guess that the chief was under great pressure to make Loehmann go away, but allowed him to withdraw his application to spare him the indignity of being kicked to the curb.

In addition, I was too hasty/lazy to come up with a line that was both factually accurate and fit the meter.

So the idiot prosecutor who decided not to charge this asshole got tossed out of office two years ago.

Why has he not been charged yet?  Sounds like time for Cleveland to toss out his replacement too.

Time and again Police officers are free to execute children(as long as they're black) and face no real repurcussions and keep being police officers. Clearly not standing during the National Anthem is the worst thing ever.

No, they told him to put up his hands but he went for his waistband and they were forced to shoot him to defend themselves.

This all happened in the 2.4 seconds they were out of their cruiser.  Don't you understand?

Why? Walking around with a gun is legal. You might as well say, "if the cops suspected someone was walking around with a Chicago style pizza, policy would dictate that you take up a defensive position, shielded by your car, while ordering the person to drop their tomato sauce casserole."

Unless you think the bill of rights doesn't apply to black people, which is clearly the position of this former police officer.

I know cops stick together like wet turds and all, but what were these morons thinking? The PR hit for even CONSIDERING hiring this vile piece of sh*t as ANY kind of badge wearing gun carrying ANYTHING should have been enough to make them back away furiously. The only reason this child-murdering fool should have even been let into the building should be to toss his ass into a small cell with three other big inmates.

F*ck this motherf*cker.

No, we've seen you do it.

You're about 50/50 on defending bad cops.  Admittedly, that's better than most cops, but still not good.

Perhaps take a moment to learn the facts before spouting off with irrelevant nonsense next time.  The police were called because people said he was pointing the gun at people.  Pretty sure that's illegal, and even more reason why the cops should have responded in the way I suggested.

FTFY. This shiathead should've been locked up. The fact that he was never charged for gunning a farking child down without even giving him a chance to drop the weapon is just more evidence of why America's police system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up.

You mean besides the fact that the person who called 911 said that the gun was fake? And why didn't his partner feel the need to come out guns blazing?
