There are exactly two things to do in the quad cities: drink and keep back the floodwaters.  That is all .

Since 1993? Is anyone even alive now to remember that?

I was once sandbagging in front of Front Street during one of our now numerous 500 year floods when a Fox news reporter showed up. She literally read the question that she had written on the palm of her hand, "How high does this wall have to be to hold back this raging river?" I answered, "at least a foot higher than the raging river," and went back to sandbagging.

/ In Davenport we call 'temporary dikes' Anne Heches.
// I don't remember any free beer but we got free pizza
/// When you're throwing sand bags you don't realize how heavy they really are until the next day.
