setting aside the fact that this is now the FOURTH thread for the miserable losers whose apparent only joy in life is to revel in the defeat of a team they hate for reasons they don't even remember anymore, where the hell is subby getting $221M from?

Wanna know the only team with a salary that amount or higher? The Red Sox.

If the Flim Flam Führer would spend the rest of his term playing golf, the country might be sufficiently better off to make it worth a couple hundred megabucks.

Wanna know why? Because the Yankees were willing to just cut another check year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year after year (that's 15) until the luxury tax penalty was raised to 50 cents on the dollar beyond the second consecutive overage

Decades of having the Yankees' success waved in our faces by arrogant asswipes is harder to forget than you may think. That, and the traditional rivalry between New York and New England.

I think the Yankees were 7th in salary last year, (I've seen 6th, 7th, and 10th depending on the report), either way, if you are just looking at salary, the Red Sox are way higher (so are the Dodgers, Giants, and Cubs in every report I've seen). Yankees lost, so people are happy. I grew up a Yankees fan, but don't pay attention like I used to, I could probably name more people on the 1990 Yankees than the current team (Pat Kelly and Alvaro Espinoza were always fun)

Here's the ranking of payrolls for 2018:

https://www.usatoday.com/sports/mlb/salaries/2018/team/all/

The Red Sox, Dodgers, and Astros all have higher payrolls than the Yankees this year.  The Brewers are the only team left with a smaller payroll.

Since Big Stein passed into the great beyond, the Yankees don't do what they used to do of just buying up every free agent out there.  I doubt they'll sign Bryce Harper, since they already have Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.  Big Stein would have just  handed Harper a blank check and ask him to fill in the amount.
