So that's how money laundering works. I always wondered.

After checking my truck into the body shop for covered repairs, my rental had $7 in a not-an-ash-tray.

Lucky you. I've wasted far more than that on the worthless lottery in 35 years.

I spent about $400 on the seasonal "raffle drawing"...got back about $28 (yeah, a 93% loss). Probably should have just kept the cash, instead >:(

Farking lottery is just a goddamned scam anymore.

Who doesn't check the pockets of each piece of clothing before putting it in the washing machine? Hell, I'm a slovenly bachelor and I know to do that.

There was no washing machine involved in this story. The guy was just cleaning out his wallet and ran across a ticket that he forgot about. Probably happens a hundred times a week across the country, this ticket was just a winner.

There are millions in unclaimed lottery winnings every year because people forget about (or lose) their tickets.

Years ago, my Dad and I took out a used car from a dealership for a test drive. I accidentally dropped my cigarette lighter between the seats. Dad pulled over in a parking lot and I managed to not only find my lighter but also a folded $20 bill. We took the car back and then went and enjoyed a nice lunch on that twenty.

So it sounds like the headline was somewhat misleading and I would have been better informed if I'd read the underlying article. I don't even know what to think about that.

Madman drummers bummers: So that's how money laundering works. I always wondered.

When I heard the term as a kid I thought that it was illegal to literally wash money.  So leaving cash in a pocket through a laundry cycle was a crime on par with say cutting the mattress tag off.

Well, to be fair... it is.

Given that neither one is actually a crime

A nice lunch for 2 for $20? Yeah, I enjoyed the 80s too. Except for the music. And Reagan. And the hairstyles. Okay, I hated the 80s.

My CSB:

I was washing clothes in a Cleveland, Ohio hotel's unit one night and opened the lid of a washer. There I found over $600.00 in twenties floating around the tub. I stopped the washer, collected all the money and started it up again. I rinsed the bills and put them into a dry towel, sat down - and waited...........  You should have seen the look of udder panic when the money's owner came flying back to the washer to see if he would find the familty vacation money SOMEWHERE!.  Apparently his wife decided to wash all of the jeans and did not check the pants. Husband had hidden the vacation money in the pant legs of one pair. I let him panic for about 30 seconds and finally piped up: "missing something?" He turned and kinda did not want to let the fact be known to this perfect stranger that he was missing a metric ass-load of currency. He sorta said something about missing a "few bucks" and I finally let him of off of the hook by unfolding the towel on my lap. He damn near kissed me and could not thank me enough for saving his vacation.  I am honest when I can afford to be.........

Yep, it WAS a nice lunch for $20 back then. We stopped in at the local Pappan's restaurant (one of Dad's favorites) in New Castle, PA. I can't tell you what we had for lunch that day. Doesn't matter. What did and still does matter is that we had a good afternoon together.

You can still easily get a nice lunch for 2 for 20 dollars in a lot of places in Michigan.  VA too I would imagine, going off your profile.

I guess nice is subjective, and I'm not sure how many thousand kcal you think you need for lunch either :D

My brother never bothers to empty change out of his pockets before he does laundry. I pick up as much $5 for every load of laundry he does straight out of the washer and dryer.

I thought the same thing - and was quite disappointed when the movie showed otherwise.
