Well obviously. The dishwasher has a lot more room inside.

Hasn't this always been common knowledge?  When giving directions, men remember them by visualizing a map.  Women, on the other hand, remember directions by "Drive to the corner, then turn right until you get to the gas station, then turn left and go past where the church used to be..."

At least 30 year old knowledge. We're just understanding it a bit better every few years.

For best results, always give directions with both compass orientation and landmarks.

Many men have sh*t estimation capacity for distance and angle, and many women have garbage recall of items in series.

Give both styles simultaneously, and *everyone* will trust your navigational guidance.

This feels like the setup for a lame Tim Allen joke. Prepare to yuk.

multi tasking is bullshiat. stemming from usa guvmint think tank research, it's obvious what their goal was. and it took years for the nitwits to catch on.

Men tend to make snap decisions and fight to stick with them, even when things go bad. Women tend to want to deliberate and consult with others.

Of course not all men and not all women do these things, but there are evolutionary reasons. For thousands and thousands of years, men went out into the bush after wild boar and deer and if they didn't make quick decisions, they were toast. If they didn't stick with the same decisions, they were toast. Women, meanwhile, needed to deliberate with the wisdom of other women about whether a root or berry was poisonous, whether they remembered anyone eating it before, how it might cook, and so on.

Absolutely, in no way, should these factor into how you treat other people in the world, but there are subtle tendencies hard-wired into our brains, at least at this point.

Take a look at fMRI scans, you'd be surprised.  How it manifests in interpersonal relations *looks* very different, but for which sections of the brain light up for various tasks (especially for fine motor control and language-related things) most humans are broadly the same.  Lefties are really f*cked in the head compared the regular people

Men are brought up in a world where they are expected to fix things, assemble things, build things.  You are handed an alan wrench to teeth on and have the ikea instructions thrown at you.  We are all branded with "Some assembly required" brands and that is our lot in life.  God bless if you cannot see how tab A goes in slot B.

Woman are brought up in a world where they are expected to be the peace keepers.  To negotiate and handle upsets.  When they rise to  positions of power, peace treaties get negotiated.  When they take over school districts, the school books run on time.  When they have a family, the kids are ready with lunches at the god damned bus stop before the bus gets there.

And then there's reality?

I'd think that the spacial awareness thing is probably a result of men traditionally being hunters and soldiers. The ones with better spacial awareness were more likely to make it back home and Darwin took care of the other ones.

It's  really like old computer "multi-tasking" aka time slicing. Some people are better at it than others, I'm fairly good at it, but there is a downside. If you're dividing your "focus" you're more apt to make a mistake, so you have to double-check your work more, therein you won't accomplish a complex task in anywhere near the same time as using single minded focus.

It can be useful though, in limited situations. Pilots tend to use it a lot to divide up the various tasks enroute to a destination. However for takeoff and landing you revert back to single task mode.

Unless spatial awareness is on the Y chromosome, then that would have resulted in both men and women having better spatial awareness.

/also, it's spatial, not spacial. Maybe your ancestors should've spent more time studying.

Sammich has it all!

I want more women in STEM fields so they can learn to craft a scientifically significant sammich!

Anyway, multi-tasking is for people that can't focus. Like trying to keep up in the fark politics tab and stream something on TV.

Only if there weren't any other biological factors that interact with DNA.

It is possible that the genes are on the X chromosome, but they express better when exposed to certain levels of testosterone.

Epigenetics is a thing.

Men think on a grid, while women use markers (like an old church location).

I have met many brilliant women, in countless fields, who couldn't tell you which way was north if their life depended on it. This in places that they were otherwise completely familiar with.

Conversely, I've known guys who were on the slow side, who could find their way home from anywhere.

Something to do with those early hunters who couldn't find their way home, having long since gone extinct.
