I don't smoke, but if you have to work construction, you should be allowed to smoke grass. Just not on the job site.

Is there a Sheila highway?

2018-09-23 05:16:04 AM
Of course they do.  It's the Queensland section of the A1 and originally ran from Bruce's Head in the north to Bruce Knob near Brisbane.  The name of the Brisbane terminus was considered indecent by Her Majesty's Governor and it was renamed to Bald Hills.

That's the continuation of the A1 past Brisbane.

It's lucky the governor never heard of Bald Knob:

Sticking out into Lake Huron is the Bruce Peninsula. There are some great diving places there.

Years ago I was working at the University computer center and one of my coworkers comes in and says you have to meet the new operator.   OK, I think.   "His name is Michael Baldwin."   So what I think.    He repeats, "His name is Michael Baldwin."   Then I catch on.   "Mind if we just call you 'Bruce'?"   He was known as Bruce until he graduated.

I once saw a short amusing piece on an Aussie paper which went like this.

There once was a man working on a construction site whose name, apparently, was Wayne Bruce.

As construction workers like giving each other inventive nicknames, this man came to be known as "ManBat."

No need for that in Oz.. Australia has plenty of "Batman" things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_Highway
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_Bridge and about 20 others.
Named after the co-founder of Melbourn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Batman
