More like story updated to reflect properly. The story of an excessive amount of money being spent on curtains is still live.

Haley is still the smartest, least corrupt of the stupidest, most criminal administration ever.  That makes her at least a political opportunist and a terrible judge of character with no principles upon which to quit in protest.

the decision on leasing the ambassador's residence and purchasing the curtains was made during the Obama administration.

What I'm reading is that it took over 2 years to get their curtains. Jeff Bezos is a monster!

Know what? She could have stopped delivery and gone for a cheaper set. You don't get to call yourself the party of "fiscal responsibility" and then blame the previous admin for sh*t they did yesterday that you're taking advantage of today.

So enjoy those f*cking curtains my tax dollars bought you, Haley.

Former Obama official Patrick Kennedy's quote defending $52,701 curtains is epic:

"All she's got is a part-time maid, and the ability to open and close the curtains quickly is important."

2018-09-14 03:29:45 PM
Is Nikki Haley America's U.N. envoy? If so, the government did spend $52K on curtains for her residence while she is in that position. The fact that she will not be taking the curtains with her doesn't change that, does it? No one thought Ben Carson was going to take the $31K dining set with him when he left. The problem was that it's a ridiculous amount of money to spend on things like dining tables and curtains after we cut taxes and ballooned our deficit.

That was my first thought when I saw this story. Somebody around Trump figured that Haley was Anonymous, so they wanted to slander her before her identity was revealed. But I don't think it was actually her.

And it probably wasn't a couple of jalousies they were dressing up.  Good drapery fabric is pretty pricey, and if you cover a wall with that stuff it really adds up.

Just saying.

The actual article says the room with the curtains is used for entertaining.  For the UN Ambassador that means other ambassadors and possibly even heads of state.

I know 50 thousand bucks is a significant chunk of change for most of us, but it actually seems kind of appropriate in the circumstance.

Honestly, was in Home Depot last weekend. It wouldn't be all that hard to drop $50K on curtains for my house.

2018-09-14 03:54:59 PM
Well doesn't this just take the cake!  All these Democrat party members were screaming high dudgeon about the cost of these drapes, as if it was a new Watergate.  Typical that the MSM mainstream media was doing their bidding by posting the garbage hit piece.  And then, as usual, it turns out it was the Democrat party's fault!  These sort of dirty politics are going to cost the Democrat party votes in the midterms, you can count on that!  Joe six-pack won't stand for this!

Now quit trying to blame your own scandals on the Administration, they've got a hurricane to deal with.  And that fake witch hunt thing.  What's the latest on that?  I haven't been following it very closely.

This is an incredibly inaccurate way to describe a career official who served in various State Department roles decades before getting continuous promotions from Clinton's first term through Trump's current term and got his last promotion under W.  Of course, Fox News does not mention any of this and simply calls him the top official under Obama.  The liberal media got played again.

2018-09-14 04:03:15 PM
Honestly, Sleepy's $31,000 table (or whatever it was) sounds worse.

Really nice curtains are quite expensive. If the size of the windows is not standard (ie, you can't just go to Home Depot or Walmart and get curtains in that size), they have to be custom-made, which is always shiatloads of money. The fabric nice curtains are made from is typically heavier, more like upholstery fabric than something you can buy off the shelf, and it is pricey, depending on what kind you buy. Curtains of the kind they're talking about are probably also lined, to reduce damage from exposure to sunlight, humidity, etc. And depending on how many windows you have, plus installation (because Nikki ain't installing this shiat herself), $52K might not be ridiculous. So ... (shrug) I ain't care.

Ask somebody who does this shiat professionally (I don't) to give you a price on curtains for your house, within all these parameters, and I bet it's a whole lot more than you think.

Of course, none of this negates the fact that Republicans are dirty motherfarkers who biatched about every farking thing the First Black Family did for the entire 8 goddam years they lived in the White House, so fark the Republicans. fark them sideways. If the NYT wants to latch onto every non-story to make them look bad, I'm fine with it.

Did I mention Republicans -- including Nikki -- can go fark themselves?

The Ambassador's residence is gorgeous and the living room (where formal events are held) has 50' high ceilings. $52K for custom drapes for that room is actually quite reasonable. I don't begrudge the few pennies my individual contribution would be to maintain our standing especially since the US/Eleanor Roosevelt were the whole reason we even have a UN in the first place. And under this administration, diplomacy is considered weak or something. It's nice to see some of our great wealth go to something other than the military.

I care who ok'd it. It is shiatty -- which is why it would be incomplete reporting to just leave it there without any insight on the shiatty decision. You'd rather have a story that just says "the government spent way too much money but we didn't bother to find out who is responsible"? Really?

Yeah, there are some people who look sane in comparison to the total scumbags and lunatics in this administration, but you really do need to be a real piece of shiat to agree to work for Trump.
