Donald Trump's legal team said "the President did nothing wrong and Paul Manafort will tell the truth."

They sure do like to use that word instead of "illegal".

"unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to 'break' - make up stories in order to get a 'deal.' Such respect for a brave man!"

Not intended to be a factual statement.

Because, these are folks who think that tax is theft, and worse it's legal theft, which means that in order to live right, sometimes you have to break the law...

There are also people who call the police if a black person walks into a store.

I'd even suggest there's some overlap.

I mean, even this amateurish PR farkup is even more amateurish and farked up than it seems.  I mean, saying "The president did nothing wrong, and Manafort will tell the truth" even works is Manafort does, in fact, tell the truth.  All they need to do is later act surprised, and say "We never would have imagined he would make up all these lies".

By "correcting" the statement, they telegraph that they know what he's going to say, and that it won't look good for them.  And, of course, that they know what he's going to say, because they participated.

It bothers me the hosts of the shows don't laugh him out of the room. They know what they're going to talk about it, queue up some of his talking points and when he inevitably grossly contradicts himself, play the clip and ask him, "Are you lying now or were you lying then or both?" And if he dissembles, cut his mic and go to your next guest.

Has Trump called the whole thing a "witch hunt" again, yet?

I ask this out of pure concern; If he goes on Twitter and once again refers to the investigation as a "witch hunt" after his campaign manager has pled guilty to acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign power during his campaign, I am very worried that the ghosts of Bridget Bishop and J. Edgar Hoover will coalesce  back into corporeal form and taking turns slapping him across the back of the skull.

So, so concerned am I.

Agreed. I've tweeted at news people that say they are SHOCKED! that Trump would act this way or will Republicans finally see the light. I always say..they haven't yet and never will. Stop acting shocked and nail their balls to the wall to show them who is boss

A guy in conversation on CNN, defending the Trump/ Manafort relationship. "Guilt by association is not a crime." I guess he's right, until that association is involved in criminal conspiracy and a prosecutor can prove it.

I heard Manafort is giving $46M of information that Mueller is interested in.

I very seriously doubt that Trump would pardon someone who rolled on him. His twisted idea of loyalty would never allow it.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that Paul Manafort's goal is now surviving the next decade, and I don't think he'd want to screw up any help that the FBI has offered him in that regard. Would you want to be put right back on the street with no money if you'd just ratted out a Russian oligarch?

I'm assuming one of the conditions of his plea/cooperation is witness protection for his family.

He's gonna piss off a lot of folks that have access to very bad people.

I just don't get who they are kidding with the "The plea bargain has nothing to do with Teump so clearly the whole thing has nothing to do with Trump. "

The point of a plea bargain here is that he cops to lesser charges for protection against bigger ones.

Also, this plea establishes that Trump hires an agent of Putin's Ukrainian lackey to run his campaign. That is a pretty solid link.

I am not a lawyer. I know next to nothing about the law.  I get the impression however that I have watched enough legal TV shows, movies and read enough crime novels that I could do at least a slightly better job then the clowns Drump has for representation.

I find it HILARIOUS that one of the most litigious idiots in modern times is going to go down because his lawyers suck so bad. That and a decades long history of criminal activity.
