"River of Fire" is a reprise of a deadly blaze on the Mendocino National Forest in northern California in 1953 that killed 15 firefighters.

Interestingly, because the fire was in early July, 1953, many people consider this the quintessential Independence Day movie.

It's inherently bad if you've never seen Die Hard.

Indeed, that was the last decent Die Hard.  Thank god they only made two.

Die Hard 2 was so badly directed (by the auteur behind Cutthroat Island) but they sort of redeemed themselves with DH3, Jeremy Irons helped.

Ok, your loss. One of the greatest action movies ever that doesn't involve a whip and the best villain this side of Darth Vader.

Anyone who has never seen Die Hard has never properly celebrated Christmas.

His father's book on the Mann Gulch fire, Young Men and Fire, is easily one of the top five books I've ever read.  It took about 90 minutes to go from smoke drop to 13 dead firefighters.

What if I've seen it but it was so long ago I've almost completely forgotten it?

Everybody remembers the scene when Dumbledore died, hardly obscure.

I've hiked Mann Gulch, and tried running uphill between two of the crosses. I was winded pretty quickly wearing hiking clothes and light shoes. Those men were wearing heavy clothes and hob-nailed boots and running through waist-high grass. Those boys had some sand for sure.

I've hiked it too, and did the exact same thing.   My dad worked that gulch before the fire, and when I went there with him he told me to give it a shot.
