It's almost as though people respond better if a candidate actually tries; rather than if they just phoning it in because their area is "red" or "blue"....

I saw Beto on Colbert the other night. Seemed like a really nice, genuine, normal guy.

The contrast to the skinsuit-wearing, booger-eating, melting blobfish that is Ted Cruz couldn't be any crasser.

Don't forget that Cruz's daughters want nothing to do with him.

What I like about this is that it's basically the same tactic Trumpers used on Bernie supporters to get them to not vote for Hillary.

Why would you not vote for Ted Cruz? He enjoys your country music, your sweet tea, your use of oxygen for supporting your life. These are all great things Texans should be proud of and proud Texans should use their relatively few limbs to go out and vote for Ted Cruz!

Didn't know that polls were showing McGrath even with Barr in my district. Trying to not get my hopes up entirely too much, though I have seen surprisingly many signs for her up even outside of the Blue Bubble that is Lexington.

Surprised that OH-02 is not on this list.  Chabot should have had this in the bag with his heavily gerrymandered district but Aftab seems to be making a race of it.

FTA: Perhaps this is because, as HuffPost wrote this week, Republicans thought they had Donnelly nailed by discovering that he owned stock in a family business that owned a factory in Mexico. Hotshot businessman Braun has his own overseas-goods issue, keep in mind, but Republicans committed to calling Donnelly "Mexico Joe," even launching this highly enjoyable, but not necessarily for the reasons that the GOP believes, website with the URL "joesendsjobsto.mx".

I happen to work for a Mexican-owned company and it's the best paying job I've ever had. So while people keep complaining about Mexicans taking out jobs, I got a job from a Mexican.

Is the panic that Cruz might lose, or is the panic that the Republicans might actually have to support Cruz, which is just distasteful and gross and not something anyone wants to do.

I think the most significant thing that I saw in yesterday's primary was the new york gubernatorial race.
A huge number of people came out to cast votes in the democratic primary yesterday.
Cuomo won his 2014 primary with 361,380 votes.
Nixon lost the 2018 primary with more than 500,000.

Again, in 2014,  594, 284 total votes were cast in the primary. 2018 saw that number surge to 1.49 MILLION.

I'm not even from Texas (Michigan) and I've so far donated $88 to the O'Rourke campaign and RSVP'd to phone bank next week.

I mean, obviously I'm doing this because I think turning a Texas senate seat blue would be a huge blow to GOP morale and the diversion of resources to a Texas race will certainly help Democratic Party chances across the board.

But the fact that it's Ted Cruzis why I'm enjoying it so much.

Donnelly is slightly ahead, which is great. A blue dog who supports teacher's unions is probably the best Indiana liberals can hope for.

I've been canvasing in college towns for him because the race will be decided by about 12 counties (mostly the 465 donut around Indy). Get out the young vote, Donnelly supports net neutrality is a good message.

My Congresscritter still sucks ass, but the 8th district had Bloomington cut off so the Lare Bear is safe for now. The 9th is now super competitive.

Y'know what's weird/suspicious as hell?

Ted Cruz going from 30% of the vote and getting trounced to winning a runoff a month and a half later with no scandals on the other side and no real reason to vote for him in 2012.

It is pretty weird looking at articles from the time and seeing that his opponent was described as "dangerously moderate".

No wonder the GOP is where it is; buncha f*ckin' idiots.

Primaries were delayed several months due to Republicans gerrymandering of districts. By the time the judge approved the new maps, Cruz had out campaigned Dewhurst.

Dewhurst underestimated Cruz and the Tea Party.  Say what you will about them (and I can say plenty), they do turn out to vote.  That's why Beto is working hard to get those occasional voters back into the game.
