A hurricane would certainly put lots of air in your B&B.

Just make sure you check for hidden cameras in the bedroom and bathroom when you get there...sometimes there's none ( ._.)

I'm not sure how much credit AB&B gets. They're asking the hosts to waive costs (and AB&B wouldn't get a fee). It's not like the company is compensating the owners. I guess it's better than nothing but it also makes the owners look & feel like dicks if they don't want to offer their place for free.

I can't imagine 12 inches of rain in a day.  A year or two back we had a gentle rain that never stopped, all day long.  Got 2 inches over 12 hours.  Places that had never flooded flooded (Balboa between the 163 and 805).  Of course, a few days earlier we had a large storm, dumped maybe an inch over an hour.  So the ground was already saturated.  still...

Me?  I'll be fine.  I have a nice handy freeway a few hundred yards away and prolly 30 feet down that will serve as a nice storm drain leading all that water south.  Sucks for those in El Cajon, where the freeway ends, but I'll be sure to send thoughts and prayers from my cozy home.

Harvey set a record last year - 60 inches of rain in Houston. That's 5 FEET of water in 3-4 days. I think they estimated somewhere around 22 trillon gallons of water, enough to fill the Great Salt Lake in Utah like 4+ times over. :)

That's a lotta water.

Looks like they're still predicting that Florence is going to drop between 20-40 inches too. That'll rival Allison, which was disastrous for Houston. That was 35 inches in 2001.

I just hope everyone stays safe. I don't want to read any memorial threads on Fark from this storm.

I prefer small to medium tracts of land with a nicely trimmed lawn.
