Intermittent fasting can be helpful with some health related things. Don't knock it, fatmitter.

feed a cold. starve a fever (but drink LOTS of liquid).

nutrition, while it does have more than its share of MLM moments, does affect your health

If done right starvation will also get rid of the annoying symptoms that go along with other things too. In fact there's not many problems it wont remove, including dandruff, hay-fever, the hiccups, arthritis, and a continued need to pay taxes.

Side effects may include extreme lethargy, bad body odour and rather a large amount of decay.

Seneca wrote about fasting he health, but also wrote about bouts of asthma. Since wine has been sulfited since the Greeks were the big shots, he might have found relief through abstaining from wine.

I'm not saying sulfites are a problem for everyone with asthma, but there's a bunch of sulfites hidden in the food supply.

I had severe asthma as a child.  I avoided food when I could not breathe. It seemed to help.
