Flo's lightened up a bit and looks to be getting ready to rain all over Georgia's parade as well.

Anyone near SF, museums will be free tomorrow.

There's a fine line between "hot but still enjoying it" and "why the hell did I do that"...

A Thai restaurant near me makes fantastic green curry, I told the lady the first time I want it hot as you make it, she was like oh "Thai style", she watched me eat it closely, cook out taking a peek too. IT was funny, they thought I was gonna be a comedy show.

Next time it was hotter, still adding chili flakes, now they know me well, unfortunately I can't eat that shiat at the moment, tongue would be fine, tongue would love it in fact. Stomach would rebel, kinda sucks

I'm somewhat immune to that. I can eat extraordinarily hot things with no ring of fire.

There was a wrap place I used to go to for lunch that had a variety of sauces.  One was jokingly referred to as "death sauce" (it was labeled as such).  Most people got a small amount on their wrap; the first time I asked for it, I told them to put a lot on.  The lady looked at me like I was nuts and did a similar "keep an eye on him" thing while I ate it.  After that, they'd see me coming and whip out the bottle.

I don't like absurd-hot foot, and I hate heat-for-heat's-sake (and don't get me started on vinegar-focused sauces), but I do love the flavor that comes with some spices and peppers.  I used to grow a bunch of my own, nothing crazy like ghosts but scotch bonnets and habaneros and such.  Made salsas from them too.

We had a waitress make our food like she would for her family. My buddy got a new nickname that day. She started calling him Tomato Head.
Someone decided that the team should do the death nut challenge. After seeing the videos we all expected to be unbearable, turns out it was not quite "Thai hot"

habaneros I used to grow, it really wasn't that hot, more fruity nuance, but yeah nothing too stupid used to be my rule, currently at NO, NO STUPID AT ALL, Hopefully docs can fix that, I love well cooked spicy foods

What it do?

Anyway, this hurricane has wondering what we are gonna do about future potential disasters? I don't mind giving money to help. But what is a future like this gonna look like?

To paraphrase Jackson Browne, I guess we get up and do it again, amen. Can't begrudge anyone for wanting and needing to live near the ocean. It's our food and economy. But how are we gonna keep funding FEMA, especially if climate change gets worse?

Yeah I'm in Colorado and, save a crazy wildfire, I like to think we wouldn't have a big disaster, but that's not true. It could be anything at any time. I am my brothers keeper. We just gotta keep working it out till we get it right.

Uhm.  Flo's weakened, but TS-force winds now extend almost 200 miles from the center.  Hurricane-strength is still "only" 70 miles from the center.

Take most of the military and turn them into an international emergency response team (we already do this to an extent, but even more so).  Use them to help with major disasters or crises anywhere they come up - and get plenty of practice doing it for ourselves.  Plus build up good will so that, if we ever need it, others are willing to chip in.
