Because they are. The beef, the toppings, etc., everything is way better than other fast food places.

Their fries still suck though

While the 31 things spins their right wing, born again, police corrupting influence positively, I'm impressed they mentioned it at all.

"The only restaurant-goers who get discounts are in-uniform police officers."

Accepting gratuities or other compensation is an ethical conduct violation in almost every law enforcement agency in California, but it's legal for companies to bribe police officers this way, so that they receive police protection that legitimate businesses do not.

"Second-generation president Rich Snyder was a born-again Christian, and he printed Bible verses on a series of restaurant goods, including burger wrappers, fry boats and the bottom of cups."

"After it was revealed the company donated $25,000 to the California GOP in the summer of 2018, people began boycotting the chain."

This seems like an intentional wedge issue by In-n-Out to divide their customer base to increase sales, the way Chil-fil-A sales soared after their president fought against gay rights. There are plenty of legal ways to donate money to political causes out of the public eye. They chose to donate directly to the California Republican Party, directly from In-n-Out Burgers, so there would be no way to miss it.

As a West Coaster I have to say I believe Shake Shack is the far superior burger product.  Not the least of the reasons being: BACON.

Officers generally eat or drink something on shift and they have to go somewhere.  If a business wants to facilitate eating/drinking at their establishment because they feel law enforcement presence is a good thing, that is between the business and the officers. I don't think it means other businesses don't get the calls for service but there typically isn't a need for officers to provide patronage for other business during a shift.  If the department has a policy that is fine but I don't quite know that it is as cut and dry as you make it in California. I don't particularly view the practice as being overtly corrupting as usually it is a fast food meal or a beverage that is being provided free/discounted.

Very true.

They do, however treat their employees pretty well. A friend of Mrs. Falfa's has worked for them since high school (he's now in his mid-50's).
Worked his way up the corporate ladder there. Every year there's an In-N-Out "executive conference" in Hawaii he has to attend. They also pay for his wife to go. It's not a bad gig, once you get past the GOP support.

I've only eaten at an In n Out once but the fries were the worst I've ever had at a fast food place.  Greasy on the outside and cold in the middle.  And not room temperature cold but refrigerator cold. Still don't know how they managed that. As for the burger, I can't even recall what it was like, not great, not awful, just not memorable.

Why must you tell lies on the internet. I don't get it though; you can clearly see them cut a fresh potato or two for every batch yet they still taste and feel like 3 day old stale bullshiat

The best fast food burger ever. Get a slice of eclair cake for dessert.

And their fries most certainly do not suck.

Are they cutting the spuds and dropping them straight into the fryer? That'd be why they suck. You have to soak a bunch of the starch out with cold water first or you just get starch goo instead of crispy fries.

I am. I had it once. I was hungry and as I was in a hotel room had no other options for food once I brought it back there. Nevertheless the one bite that I had was enough. The rest of it spent the night in the bin. By morning the stench of it was enough to churn your stomach. Foul stuff.

668NeighborOfTheBeast: My favorite fast food burger and fries

[bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com image 850x637]

Whataburger is the best fast food burger by a long shot.  Virtually every other fast food burger is some variation on a very familiar theme, taste-wise - except Whataburger. There's just something unique about its flavor and texture that's unlike anything else. Much more than the sum of its simple parts, and Just straight up tasty as hell. They take forever and a day to make your order, but its never not worth it.

Also, their patty melts are awesome.

Well I live in Texas now and so far I've been completely underwhelmed by them. I'm told they make good drunk food though. I will say that Spicy Ketchup is pretty solid and the table service(!) is nice too. If/When I go back I'd probably just get a chicken sandwich.

this may sound kinda complicated, eat the hamburger you like best maybe?

Julia Child, Bourdain, Ramsay all say they love 'em on that list, doesn't mean they are right or you are wrong, just means you disagree, really kinda hard to have a burger snob thread. Though you folks are doing a heck of a job trying!

it's a freaking hamburger
