I've lost track of how many different places where New York's Bravest have helped provide disaster response for since 9/11. They haven't forgotten what it was like to face overwhelming odds or what it meant when their brothers came from every direction to aid them when they needed it.  I can't think of a more meaningful tribute to the fallen than FDNY doing this.

Wanted to snark about the nypd but neither the time nor the place.

Do good work out there. You'll be needed

/can I snark about people who don't follow evacuation orders?

Are they time travelers?

Hopefully they won't face similar tragedy that the first responders firemen did in 2001.

I am really concerned that FEMA will fail disastrously due to a lack of preparedness and a leadership deficit.

And lack of funds. Trumpy diverted $10 mill from fema to ICE for those detention facilities.

Well at least it's much less likely that the survivors will get cancer and other horrible illnesses.

I dunno. Does an avalanche of pig sewage cause cancer, assuming you don't die from some sort of resulting infection?

Well, judging from the models I've seen this morning, they should be heading a bit South.  Lindsay Graham seen jumping for joy as manly men go down.

Well there will be lots of black people to detain and abuse under false pretenses, so it's nice they're getting a vacation.

Well of course FDNY have to head there before the "storm" arrives. How else will they have time to place the water hoses to flood the city? Florence was an inside job, sheeple!

Hero? really subby.

Just remember, the most dangerous words in the world are "I'm from the government, I am here to help".

The scary tag should be used instead

My cousin ran into them as she was driving from North Carolina to DC. Once again rushing Into the Danger while everyone else rushes away. *Respect*

We have had at least a 60 year head start on public knowledge of climate change. What's been done with that information?

I think I've read this novel. Thankfully, Juan Cabrillo and the Oregon managed to stop the eco-terrorists in time to prevent the storm from being even more horrible than it was.

Subby, the hero tag is reserved for the national guardsmen who shoot those scum when they're caught looting.

No disrespect intended to the responders but is the 9/11 jingoism really necessary?  Would these folks not be going if this storm happened to occur two weeks from now?

The NYPD is headed to North Carolina?

Don't those poor people have enough problems already?

I guarantee that no jetliners will crash into any Carolina skyscrapers while they're there.  It's peace of mind.

It'll take them a little while to get there, as they're driving 10 miles under the speed limit in two lanes at once.

Thanks, Canada.

Yes, but in two weeks they wouldn't be leaving on one of the most hallowed days for NYC, NYPD and FDNY.

There's a reason NYs Finest refer to the FD guys as Land Pirates...

Like most libertarian/small government conservative claims that privatization is the panacea to any problem associated with government services, Noforkingchance doesn't realize that we've tried that before and it sucked.  That's why we stopped using private fire companies and started government run ones.
