No because they'll actually evacuate before the most of the humans will.

Came here for this, leaving before the "panic buying" involving coolers full of Coors and a pool float commences...

You can lead water to a horse and they will drink it.

If the horses are anything like other animals, those glue bottles are already somewhere on the Jersey turnpike stuck in traffic.

Lets go UP the coast because hurricanes never do that.

Weird. It's almost like wild animals have survived in the wild without our help for millions of years.

This!  Everyone uses the term wild horses but they should use the term feral....  Wild makes it sounds like they are natural to the area and they aren't.

They've been on the islands for over 500 years, so I'm not sure I'd still call them 'invasive'.

Every year the firefighters ride out, round up the horses, and swim them from one island to the other. There's an auction, and when they've sold enough to keep the herd at a sustainable number, they swim the rest home.

Neondistraction: So you're telling me wild horses have more sense than a lot of humans.  I wish I could say that surprises me.

Humans are born with two instincts that are recognized: a reaction to light vs dark, and a suckle reaction. We start learning immediately and we can learn far more, far faster than any other creature we know of. But it comes at a price. We aren't preprogrammed with a bunch of instincts that every other animal has, all of our reactions and ability to form conclusions rests on highly variable personal experiences mediated to a fairly unknown degree by virtually infinitely variable neural networks and affected by an environment and diet increasingly suffused with hormones and hormone analogues that affect neural processes in highly complex ways.

So yeah, most other animals have instincts that help them respond in certain ways. Our learned responses range from running from the water to shooting the wind to planning on how to profit from it to surfing the storm surge. Inevitably some will benefit in various ways from their responses, whereas if an instinct is wrong for a particular situation then the entire species or local population could be lost. So far our survival strategies seem to keep the species going, even if we have a tiny minority who take "shoot the breeze" a bit too literally.
