Doing it as part of filming a pilot?

Get a farking permit and pay $$ to the highway department if you want to shut down a road for your farking TV show.

Bwahahahahaha.

US 75 in Dallas used to get this with motorcycles. Large groups would block the freeway so they could take turns doing stunts. It's been a couple of years since I've heard of it being repeated, though.

It happens here in STL every so often. There was some squid biker group here made of that kind of dickhead- they'd get buddies to block an interstate so they could pull stunts.

Yeah, everyone is still delayed, but then the government makes its money so it's cool.

they should bring back public corporal punishment for these morons.

I used to see people do this in CA, where they would go slow to block traffic, then a few would race once the path was clear.

I'm just amazed that the troopers got there fast enough to catch them.

Usually when I see vehicles in these situations described by the public and news media with the following, "were described as high-performance, racing-type cars"I expect this is what was actually blocking traffic...

When a driver runs over several of them and gets away scott free (as he should have) it tends to scare the arsehole motorcyclists.

Police received several calls from angry motorists Sunday about what were described as high-performance, racing-type cars slowing traffic to a crawl on the Wilbur Cross Parkway in New Haven and Hamden.

Christ, the last thing that stupid state needs is traffic to get hung up by drivers intentionally going slowly

The tickets aren't enough - they planned this out knowing they would be wasting thousands of people's time.

I'd suggest they not only get the ticket, with a payment due to the state, but also that they are required to pay each person for the time wasted. Maybe something small - say, $5/person (maybe more, if this caused lengthy delays), but anyone affected can make a claim. The asshats' cars are confiscated until each claimant is paid off. If they refuse to pay, their cars are auctioned off to pay.

But the court will probably charge $50 per claimant for processing the payments.

If they were caught (or could get witness to testify) about the street racing and similar done once they cleared the road, it should be trivial to simply slap the whole bunch with "accessory to the crime" and hit them with everything from street racing charges to reckless driving (impound cars, loss of license, the works).  I'm guessing whatever they were filming was too tame to bust them for (then why did they need to close the road?  Wrong way driving?).

Rumour had it that at least one of the motorcyclists was a cop.  Claimed to be under cover, and nobody appears to have blown the whole thing open as a "cop gang acting like cops".  Still suspicious.

The bikers caught up with him when he got stuck in traffic, bashed his window in, dragged him from his car, and beat the shiat out of him.  Jalopnik's last article on the incident states 11 bikers had been charged.

Atlanta's finally getting tired of all these idiots, hung out on the strip they drag just this past weekend and impounded thirty vehicles. A few weeks ago they found where the ATV/dirt bikers were parking their trucks and impounded those, too, but not before a 14 year old killed himself running from them. Live by the stunt, die by the stunt.

This.

It's like these idiots who stop their cars side by side in the street, one blocking each lane while they talk to one another, or the idiots who walk down the middle of the street or parking lot. Then they give you a look if you honk your horn at them, like you're the one being rude.

I bet these were the same a**holes doing this about 3 weeks ago when I was on I-95 north past new haven.  These guys had traffic backed up for miles, no one could get by and people were doing all kinds of crazy shiat weaving in and out trying to get by the bottleneck.  man were people(myself included)pissed off.  they should learn to accept they have small peckers...

They use to do that on the George Bush omy way home from work late at night, turms out the riders were less brave while being tailgated by a Dodge truck. Of course I never took the same exit afterwards and drove around for a not before heading home
