I like to cook and I'm not bad at it. Tried cooking Octopus last year...what a mess...it was inedible...had to spit out my first bite and throw everything away.

I'm nervous about trying this myself but am determined to try grilling it. Seafood market by me has baby octopus already tenderized so I think it is in my near future.

I ate octopus multiple times in the Greek islands. Properly prepared, octopus is absolutely delicious.

I don't eat octopus anymore, now that we understand how intelligent they are.

One day when the octopuses rise from the ocean and enslave us all, the octopus eaters are going to get the worst treatment.  Don't think they don't remember.

Every time I see octopus on a plate in a cooking show, it kinda makes me want to hurl. Not that I have any particular aversion to other people eating octopus, it just looks disgusting. Really any octopus or squid-like creature.

It just always looks rubbery and unappealing.

Bakkhus Tavern in Kemah, TX, has an awesome grilled octopus. The Greeks* do know how to prepare it just right.

This.

Well not exactly this.  More the idea of eating them fills me with terrifying nightmares of mad alien octopus's being still alive and strangling me.  But the intelligence thing is also a turn off.

/because they'll be intelligent enough to seek revenge!

Why, do you prefer to eat your animals condescendingly?

If they can evolve themselves to living more than five years and acquire the ability to pass information to their offspring, we're doomed.

///may take a while
//probably doom ourselves first

Undercooked by a bit, it's too tough. Overcooked by a bit, it's too tough. It's the avocado of seafood- it's has window of "just right" that's about 20 sec long.

It's a bit weird, the body needs to be cooked quickly and sliced thin sashimi style, 15 to 20 minutes for the size of octopus I normally get (so fist sized chunks) and the tentacles can basically be put into a pot and simmered until they are as soft as you'd like.

That's too bad.  I have a great bacon wrapped octopus recipe
