This is a pretty exciting mission. If we get any good explanatory data about the sun, particularly about why the corona is so much hotter than the surface, it could revolutionize astronomy.

I haven't been this excited NASA-wise since we got all that awesome info on Pluto and Charon.

I think I'm just gonna loop The KLF for this launch.

Exactly right note of surreality.

I'm glad Parker's still alive to see this thing finally go up. Hope he lives long enough to see this thing begin it's mission.

Oh gods shut up shut up I want to see the god damned firing room. JESUS CHRIST SHUT UP

2018-08-11 03:35:01 AM
And, into the planned 20 minute hold.

I don't think DIVH has ever launched with a third stage before. Looks a lot longer than normal.

IF

ONLY

THEY

WOULD JUST GO TO THE FIRING ROOM

AND QUIT THIS YAPPING

(it's me, not them, they're okay, I'm just having a problem here)

We get it Delta IV Heavy... You vape

2018-08-11 03:47:20 AM
All this time-filling is boring, but at least the ULA babe is cute.
Looking forward to the launch though -- this is gonna be a big one, and the mission is super awesome.

what the f*ck is this no go here?

2018-08-11 03:48:13 AM
Welp, that pretty much says.. Goodnight everyone..

2018-08-11 03:49:20 AM
Yea, if it was a range issue, that might clear.  That sounded like a technical glitch and they will want to be extra careful with a payload like this.

2018-08-11 03:50:43 AM
Hrm....

2018-08-11 03:51:23 AM
Still in the planned hold; could resolve. Else, they'll try tomorrow.

2018-08-11 03:52:41 AM
It's already hard enough to "do rockets".

But by GODS do NOT make it even harder with a god damned pile of unending chattering social media house sparrows.

2018-08-11 03:53:26 AM
Watching, waiting, and glad of the distraction. I hope they get a good launch.

Ehh, In my experience.. This isn't going anywhere tonight..

1. It's the Delta IV Heavy
2. Crucial Payload
3. Getting lots of uncertainty vibes..

This isn't going anywhere tonight.. I don't see  ULA pulling a NASA on this one and sending it up just because the higher are tapping their watch..

2018-08-11 03:55:15 AM
39 minutes remaining in tonight's launch window.

Kittypie070: what the f*ck is this no go here?

Very good question, I would like to know as well. No idea what that acronym means.

They better hurry up though. It's on hold and they need to those measurements in before the sun turns back on

EGSE = Electrical Ground Support Equipment. Suggests an issue with the pad rather than the vehicle.

There's about 30 minutes left in the launch window. If the count doesn't pick up in the next 25, then it'll be a scrub for the night. No big deal; they'll try again tomorrow.

Yup. I ain't too worried.

I'm just PRAYINGGGGGGGG that they don't pick up tomorrow with the nice but chattery birdy heads.

I dunno what the matter is but this time I just found it deeply non-interesting.

And the problem was NOT with them.

The onions here are from totally unrelated reasons.

This is where you should make liberal use of the mute button. Maybe google some info about the launch profile. This is a really high energy mission.

Gawdzila: Hmm.  Sounds like they're gonna go for it

We're go. new T0 at 04:28:00 EDT.

Nice of the commentators to give advance warning about this vehicle's affinity for setting itself on fire.

2018-08-11 04:23:49 AM
Go to pick up the terminal count.

2018-08-11 04:24:38 AM
So where is the ULA landing zone located at for recovery of the first stage?

Just kidding, given payload and orbit target SpaceX wouldn't be going for a recovery either.

2018-08-11 04:25:27 AM
Oh well.. I wasn't expecting this.. I was wrong...

2018-08-11 04:26:04 AM
Please PLEASE PLEASE JUST SHUT UP AND GO TO THE FIRING ROOM
