Do you have the actual gold in hand, or do you have a paper certificate pinky-swearing that it means you own X amount of gold?

Are you saying I should not have trusted them to store my "gold" in the Glenn Beck National Depository?

Don't worry, we fixed it by slapping higher tariffs on all that everything you buy that is imported from China.  Problem solved.  America has been made great again for always.

I had the joy of randomly seeing an NRAtv video where some schmuck was celebrating that wages have increased 25% more under Trump than Obama.  I'm sure that most of his target audience was very impressed, though he failed to mention that wages were up only 0.51%.

Wait, wages are up?

2018-08-10 04:52:20 PM
On the whole, wages increases exceed price increases but for decades now, wage increases have barely exceeded inflation, especially for low-wage workers.  Wages are going up more now but still, in relation to higher inflation, the increases are not much better than before and may be worse.

When you get your 2% raise when inflation is 3-4% you can celebrate sliding back again as you have for the last 30 yesrs.

You make up it like MoviePass - VOLUME!

Keep working harder for less, and thanking him.
He'll win those trade wars yet.
With coal, steam, and asbestos, we can build a plump new world.

Congratulations on getting a flat raise. My pay is tied directly to the performance of my store by commission. If I want a raise my store needs to sell more.10% increase in sales = 5% raise. It is nice that I can get a larger increase than the average joe...it can also twist and burn and screw me harder than a 2% raise.

Ya, we had commissions (inside sales)  until last year when corporate decided to switch to a bonus dependent on the overall performance of the company.  The outside sales guy still gets commissions based on sales, and now expects us to help him build sales.  Good luck with that chief, I'm being paid to service the customer now, not grow sales.

It's simple economics.
Wages go up, costs go up. How did people not see that coming? Man I really must have gone to a good high school.
