Sodium raises my blood pressure a lot more than 2mm/half teaspoon.

I regard denying yourself glorious deliciousness as always doing more stress damage than consuming said deliciousness. Stress is worse for your health than just about anything, so I try and avoid stress as much as possible. So anyone telling me not to eat a certain food can go f*ck themselves.

This has been known for over a decade, but I suspect the American medical industry will ignore even a study this large.

/Did you know that populations that are restricted to the US recommended salt intake have very high levels of mental retardation?

This. Averages are nice, but there are going to be differences between those who are sensitive to sodium and those who aren't. Which makes the averages fairly useless to either group.

Anti freeze tastes pretty good (got a mouthful trying to siphon out a radiator when I put too much in many years ago). But denying yourself that deliciousness *is* better for you.

Never seen antifreeze classed as food, so I don't feel remotely deprived in giving that one a miss. Whatever happened to making antifreeze taste bad so pets don't drink leaks/spills? I guess that happened post your siphoning accident.

Poppycock.
In the late 70's the Gubmint demanded employers provide salt tabs for their slaves. "when you're sweating, you're losing precious salt!"
