I love all pizza equally, except when it's cut in squares, you horrible person.

How to make a New York style pizza

1) Take a Chicago style pizza and place it in a take-out box.

2) Tape the box shut with strong duct tape.

3) Box in hand, ascend to the top of a six foot utility ladder.

4) Drop the box on the floor.

5) Pick up the box and place it on a table.

6) Using scissors, cut a large circle in the top of the box.

7) Flip the cardboard circle over.

8) Ta-da!  You're now holding a New York style pizza.

Which style? There is no single Chicago style pizza

The deep dish stuff is mostly fed to tourists.

Oh look it's this thread again. I'll just sit and watch the edge lords that have never had Chicago come here and derp about casserole. Cause they're edgy and original.

How many feet do you typically order? I assume due to how thin and floppy it is it must come on a spool.

Been to NY - really like their pizza
Been to Chicago - really like their pizza
Been to Detroit - really like their pizza
Dominos - really like their pizza
Pizza Hut - really like their pizza
California Pizza - really like their pizza
Costco - really like their pizza
That one independant pizza place that you go to and puts all other pizzas to shame - Never been there, but I'm sure it's delicious.

Someone simply point out to all the dumbasses that complain that it's just a pizza-loving dude who made the museum, and if they really have a stick up their asses about it, they can make their own museum.  Then there will be TWO places of yummy goodness to go and oogle.

What New York people call "pie" (which is their word for "pizza), the rest of us call "cheese bread".

I've only had pizza in Atlantic City while in the U.S. It was not very good, but this was my experience with any food I ate in restaurants the few days I was there. Even eggs and bacon was not very good. The best place I ate at while there was a Pizza Hut.

If Woody wanted His children to eat pizza as thick as a sheet of paper He wouldn't have invented pizza meant for men to show the paper pizza lovers that their taste buds are defective.

Meh, whether it's Chicago or New York doesn't matter. At least we can all agree that pineapple is the best topping.

Two places, yes, but one will be a shrine to the one true style, and the other will be an abomination inhabited by pizza heretics.

Chicagoans, meet New Yorkies.  New Yorkies, meet Chicagoans.

Translated: Pat, meet Kettle.  Kettle, meet Pot.

Both cities need to just take their pizza debate and shove it up their collective arses and worry less about about how other people eat their damned pizza.

The problem I have with this whole concept of regional pizza supremacy is that every pizza style has its strengths except NY style. It's a bland piece of dough with grade E cheese and Sysco toppings.

I can order that any time I want at Applebee's.

Yes, there is a culture behind it, and that's nothing to dismiss easily. But so does scrapple and that nasty St. Louis cheese product, and those are objectively bad.

Having grown up in new York I say let Chicago have it.
I mean it's not like they are really listed in the same breath as let's say New York, London or Paris.
So, yea if it makes them feel better, have right at it.

I've had both.  I prefer NY Style from these guys. But Lou Manatis pie/casserole is pretty tasty.

Whatever floats yer pizza boat.

Have you never been to Lenny's on 58th & 3rd? There's no spool, but they hand carve the pepperoni and chop the sausage made to order right in front of you. Then it's flash baked in 15 seconds, followed by a hipster robot slicing it up 8 ergonomic pieces and BOOM, you're out the door in 3 minutes.

We can expand this to all food items and all cites. Pizza, hot dogs, BBQ, etc etc. Stop caring so much.

I don't really have a side on this but I have never heard a Chicagoan accuse New York style of not being pizza. So I'll give Chicago extra points for a lack of misplaced elitism.

Mama Mia's in Saratoga Springs
Leonardo's in Burlington VT

Hey now, that's totally unfair. Let's not forget that corruption greed had equal parts to play.

/only good food I've ever had in AC was a little hole-in-the-wall hot dog place

The equivalent of "Chicago pizza isn't pizza, it's a casserole" is "NY pizza isn't pizza, it's ketchup on a cracker."

Pretty much anyone who claims their local food style is best suffers from misplaced elitism, regardless of food or location.

There's no need to argue folks.

Tomato and cheese casseroles are an excellent substitute when you don't have the equipment or ingredients to make a real pizza.   So enjoy then both!

imho the best pizza is the NE greek <insert your town> House of Pizza style. its like a thin pan pizza. its what i grew up with so its what i love. i cant find it here in AZ. we have Pizzaria Bianco, which some say is the worlds best. its pretty good, but i wouldn't even call it the best in Phoenix.
