Russia's end game is to destabilize the US and take our place on the world stage. Mueller or Congress reacting to this and making the Fanta Menace do the perp walk would cause more chaos than just leaving him and adding this to the investigation list.

I feel bad for Robert Mueller. Every day there is new criminal evidence he has to look into. He finds crime like Sideshow Bob finds rakes.

"As records from this era are sparse, historians aren't entirely sure why the United States largely ignored not only blatant attacks by Russian operatives on various digital fronts, but also their habit of openly talking and bragging about said attacks and their influence over President Trump. Some researchers believe there may be a connection to the rise of a mysterious substance known as 'Funko' around the same time."

Thanks.

The Fanta Fuhrer really thinks he can just play both sides come out clean on the other side doesn't he? I guess we'll see but the odds seem decidedly against him either way.

They aren't trying to take our place because that's a ridiculous notion. They lack the economic and military capabilities to project power too far from their immediate borders. They just want to knock off the US from the superpower role so that there isn't a super power... then, we'll just have various regional powers, like in the good olde days. Then the Ruskies can grab themselves a nice sphere of influence by threatening their neighbors.

All Republicans in Congress and the GOP base have no issue with a little Russian assistance. Make no mistake that's where the talking points are headed.  Nunes all but said it the other day.  They know it's wrong and an impeachable offense, so keep the seats so they can stay in power.

Disgusting.

All of this reminds me of the book, "Snow Crash", because it portrays the future USA as a semi failed state. Though our country is far from being a diminished former world power like the United Kingdom, this does feel like the beginning of the slide down.

The government is largely controlled by billionaires running multinational corps and banks.

The people and their purchased politicians have no allegiance, responsibility, or interest in our nation as an entity; except where they can wring a few more bucks out of us.

And there's a lot of money to be made, in a lot of different areas, by taking us down a peg.

And saying exactly what the audience expects to hear. Which tells me that Russian public opinion believes Trump is Russia's puppet. Not that they hope for it, or think that it could be true... they simply accept it as fact.

Like this means a damn thing with a Republican majority. They've spent decades getting fat on the riling up angry racist coonts as part of the Southern Strategy, voter suppression via distributing false information about polling locations and times, runaway gerrymandering, latching onto Christianity like a damn headcrab, and legitimizing angry racist ITGs and Clansmen calling themselves the "alt-right", refusing to denounce any sort of intimidation tactics their base uses to intimidate others to stay away from polling stations. (...Oh I guess it loops.)

Does anyone really think a party built around that would mind a few more free votes in their favor from election fraud?

July 31, 2018 - The Hill - A Yahoo Finance-SurveyMonkey poll released Tuesday finds that 11 percent of Republican or GOP-leaning Americans surveyed said it is "appropriate" for Russia to try to help Republicans, while 29 percent said it's "not appropriate, but wouldn't be a big deal."

The US wasn't a semi-failed state, it was a failed state. Currency was no longer the Dollar, any sense of social stability was either a result of local authorities, or was because corporations had stepped in. The State had only recently failed though, people were still using the trappings (freeway system, concern that it might physically collapse) the supposed President of the United States was essentially unknown to the public and was personally going out to do stuff, and on top of that, there was a guy running around with a nuclear weapon on a literal dead-man switch with no one stopping him.

Things to look forward to (not really spoilers, but yeah kinda spoilers):

1. The infamous "Toilet Paper Memo"
2. I told them they would listen to Reason muhahahahaha
3. The guy with a dead man switch attached to a nuclear bomb in a motorcycle side car and POOR IMPULSE CONTROL tattooed to his forehead
4. Mafia pizza delivery
5. The main character's name is literally "Hero Protagonist" (well, Hiro)

It's like a one book meme generator.
