It actually *is* a joke - just not intended as such.

Popcorn shipment arrived just in time.

Rudy will describe the 9 to 11 ways Trump might have colluded, if he colluded, which he didn't, not that there's anything wrong if he did.

The better of the two lawyers will keep throwing to a commercial break.

JS: And we're back!
RG: If Trump had been smart, instead of meeting with the Russians he should have-
JS: And here's another word from our sponsors...
(commercial break)
JS: Welcome back.  And to demonstrate how Trump can't get a fair shake by those evil media companies, we've put duct tape over Rudy's mouth.

D2S:  Say, Rudi.  Did you make a motion to void that evidence?
Rudi:  I sure did.  It was a double flusher!
D2S:  Why you.  Pick out two fingers
Rudi:  One... Two

Rudi:  I can't see!  I can't see!

Oh we are 45 minutes into the show and its already amazing. I mean there is a guy who called in just now who said that Trump's current situation is the result of Obama, and thus Obama needs to be charged with treason.

FWIW, I get the sense that the few people still left at Fox News who try to present something resembling "news" and "current events" in a lucid manner (Shep, Cavuto, etc) probably steer clear to the other side of the room from the Hannity's and Ingraham's during company outings.

All the cable networks now have a clear "news during the day, pundits at night" delineation in their programming, but the overall personality shift between the two chasms at Fox is far and away the most stark and jarring.

"Jay, Your Honor, long time first time, I just want to thank you both for your service. I was wondering if either of you saw the article in the July issue of Deep State Expose and Used Tire Exchange quarterly that claimed when people in the Obama Administration were leaving instructions for their incoming replacements, they secretly added phone numbers for known Russian operatives into their Rolodexes, and if this is true, whether it constitutes entrapment. I'll hang up and listen.

Yeah, it's interesting how, when neither the pundits nor the anchors habitually make shiat up, the transition from news to commentary  is pretty fluid.

"Your honor, there's no way my client, the President, can get a fair trial anywhere. The rest of the team and I went on national radio and spouted off multiple contradictory statements regarding the President's actions and the possible legality and defense of those actions, several of which were pure fabrication, including the one about Prior President Precedent, of which RG over there is particularly proud. Basically, the whole jury pool is tainted, either by a complete misunderstanding of the legal system or by out and out hatred of our complete lack of morals. We move to dismiss the charges."

2018-08-10 04:21:06 PM
Well I for one am sure they will give a coherent and well reasoned defense of Donald J. Trump and his family and explain in a logical manner how the investigation has never come close to anything illegal in his campaign other than some coffee boys who... *Barfs*

It's very clear that the Trump team knows they have no chance in an actual legal battle. So they're not going to fight one. They're going to try and swing for the "above the law" fences, and they very well might pull it off.

2018-08-10 04:29:07 PM
I'm not sure.  I distinctly remember reading almost the exact same story one year ago, and it turned out to not be true.  I think the newspaper was called 'The Avocado' or something similar.  'The Orange'?  No, that's not it either.   It'll come to me in a minute.   You know, l'esprit de l'escalier

It's not a terrible strategy, really. It plays well to his hardened base. If Team Drumpf goes down meekly, that would kill the brand and many of his MAGA-adorning followers will drop off. Keep swinging and they can write books during confinement and what else to still grease the wheels as an embarrassingly large number of Americans cling to some idiotic belief that they're the most unjustly held political prisoners of our time, or something.

I feel bad for you. Not even Walmart is evil enough to play Fox News in the break room (because they're too cheap to pay for cable)

they'll might have a delay of quite a bit, so they can edit it according to advice as they go - they will then hopefully (from the trump side) appear more professional than usual
