All right!  That's it!  Anybody who takes a knee is WALKING home!

Love
President Trump

I bet if Trump and conservatives acknowledged the cops-targeting-and-killing-black-people reason for player protests, it would go a long way towards ending the kneeling before football games.

But empathy isn't a strong suit of authoritarians who instead think demand everyone else use his freedom to think and act like the authoritarians.

The NFL denied Donnie the ablity to buy a nfl team because he is too poor and lack of good moral character. the NFL looks at a person's books. Spanky just wants the NFL to respect his "authority" over a private organization.

So, just to reiterate.... "peacefully" means "where I don't have to see it".

No, "peacefully" means "at the end of a noose"

Also, related to the image:  Remember that the proper way for True American Patriots to protest is to burn down downtown Tulsa because a black man happened to ride an elevator near a white woman.  So, those guys int he first panel are just trying to be good Kiwanis members.

It's almost as if he thinks (a) the NFL is a subsidiary of the US government, and/or (b) he is omnipotent and everyone must bow and cater to his every whim, OR ELSE.

I'm surprised he isn't ordering that protesting players be executed.

When the NBA comes back, they should all stand for the anthem as the players have agreed to, but wear shirts with LeBron's "u bum" tweet printed on the front

How about the players all say they have intermittent bone spurs in their foots and have to kneel before they go out on the field.

That's what it looks like.

But, you know, spineless Republicans will do nada. As for me, the NFL and Trump can go give each other rim jobs. If the owners want to appease every complaint he has about them, then I'm done with the game. Fall is nice in New England anyways, and now I'll have more time on the weekends to enjoy the outdoors or whatever I do.

The documentary "Small Potatoes" about the USFL really goes into depth on this.  Trump got shut out of the NFL, so he bought into the USFL.  Then he pressured other owners in the USFL to move their schedule from the spring and early summer, like they were playing, to directly compete with the NFL, hoping that it would lead to a NFL/USFL merger, similar to the NFL/AFL merger in the late 60s.  Of course, it just ended up destroying the USFL.  You didn't have to be a stable genius to know that would happen.

Trump is actually interviewed in it, and he sounds as stupid as you'd imagine him to.

I don't think the NFL cares how much money he has. Even when he appeared to be relatively sane he was a loose cannon. And the NFL wants stable leadership that will stand behind they League (and keep disagreements internal) more than anything else. Some owners are shiatty people, but they still usually meet the above qualities. And sometimes your vetting fails and you get a bad owner.

But no way in hell do they bring on the guy who bought into a league, threw his weight around until he got his way in destroying the League to try and force the NFL to give him a team.

Tell him that the new protest is closing your eyes and putting your hand over your chest and how it symbolizes the loss of life in this country.

The result would probably give him an aneurysm.

How about...the actual team owners go and "borrow" the portable flagstaffs from the color guard, replace the flags with ones that simply say "IMPEACH TRUMP" in giant red-over-yellow-with-gold-fringe letters, then choose to express themselves by standing on the field directly between the players and the American flag.

The players are compelled to stand and salute by the Tinpot Tangerine Tyrant, perhaps.  Nothing in there about saluting WHAT.

Did the documentary include his letter to all the other team owners where he asked them to each pay part of Doug Flutie's salary because he found it unfair that he had to pay his own player all by himself? (After all, everyone gets to enjoy him)

"Find another way to protest."

This is literally the perfect protest.  A minor gesture with a large audience that doesn't block streets, doesn't disrupt public services, doesn't require additional police support, doesn't add additional paperwork, results in no violence, and is held during a frivolous, opulent sporting event during a check-the-box opening moment.  The product on the field isn't affected, the outcome of the game isn't affected, and sports figures are using their celebrity to protest something meaningful that personally impacts them and people in their demographic.  There is no better protest.

If you're poor and oppressed you need to shut up and do better and follow the rules.  If you're rich and famous, you need to shut up and just play ball like you're paid to do.

I think some people just don't want minorities protesting.

It is well established that the first amendment also applies to actions of the executive regardless of such wording. The executive leaning on a private entity to restrict speech is a violation of the first amendment.

The White House's comment on Trump's tweets:

The President is the President of the United States, so they're considered official statements by the President of the United States

And his use of them to communicate policy shows this in practice. If he used his twitter account for personal comments and the Whte House account for official comments you would have a point. But he has conflated the two.

There's the old saying "If you repeat a lie often enough, people will start to believe it". In this case, it's "Trump is a great businessman! He'll get the cratered out economy back on track!". That's a great documentary, it's just one bad decision after another for the USFL.

Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their "outrage" at something that most of them are unable to define.

they know exactly what they're protesting. you're the one who keeps twisting it into something it's not. EABOD.
