Didn't this happen in Moncton a few years ago? Same province, and the shooter killed a few police officers?

Stay safe regardless farkette. Your area should be on lockdown. Don't answer any knocks to your doors or windows unless it's the police, and if those aren't locked yet - go lock/close them.

Yes. The scumbag murdered 3 officers and shot several others.

CBC contacted employees at the Tim Hortons on Douglas Avenue and they said they have locked their doors so customers can't exit or enter.

Way to bust stereotypes CBC, there are bigger problems here than Timbit availability.

Although, to be fair, I think this happened right across the street from the Tims.

Yeah, I'm usually pretty calm about this stuff, but my wife and two kids are in a house about 500m away from the shooting so I'm a little on edge this morning.  I came into work before I realized what was up.

I'm so sorry.
/and my post was, unfortunately, reactionary. Here in the twin cities, especially in the heat of the summer, it's actually common to open the door - see squads blocking off both ends of the street - and so just go back inside, lock up, and only hope I don't get hit by a stray bullet.
//solidarity from your neighbor to south. Again... That really sucks.... Eip btw if needed.

Yes, three police officers shot dead, and two officers wounded, in June of 2014.

Yes, three police officers shot baited by a fake call and murdered in an ambush dead, and two officers wounded, in June of 2014.

FTFY. That murderer is a monster.

jaytkay: TFA says nothing about police being shot, or anything about identities

Locals have been discussing this all morning on facebook and twitter sharing information. The latest I've heard is that it is 3 cops and an "emergency personnel" (guessing paramedic?) are the victims and even a few people posting that they heard the shooter is female. Local police have phrased it as "at least 4" so hopefully no more victims other than the shooter and even then I wouldn't use the word victim for that monster.

Witnesses in Fredericton tell CBC News that they heard about 4 distinct shots an hour ago, resembling firecrackers rather than the more common shotgun noises heard during hunting season.

You know your a real American when you read those posts and your first thought is "Big whoop.  That shiat happens within two miles of me every three or four days", instead of, "Damn.  That's horrible.  I hope y'all are OK and nothing bad happens".

Thanks.  Me too.  I'm sure it will all be fine, but I wish I hadn't come into work today which is on the other side of town.  In F'ton terms that's only ~8km, but I took the bus here and there's no point trying to get home again (I think Fredericton Transit's motto is "It's a lovely day for a walk")

Still on lockdown?

My cousin lives over on Riverside (so not that close), but works with the Federal government, her son goes to UNB, so I'm not sure where he crosses to get to school, so goodness only knows where everyone was when this all went down.

Guys guys guys! This part from the above post: "facebook and twitter sharing information" - that! That's what we used to use those platforms for! If you (whoever is reading this) is a newer farker, you might've never known about the "green ribbon logo" days almost a decade ago - Twitter was still new and not banned overseas/middle eastern countries when political revolution was going nuts; other websites were getting shut down - but people could still use Twitter (since it, and smart phones were still new) and it helped the populace (and the whole of Fark-especially Drew, what with changing the FrontPage Logo to have a little green "armband") unite against their corrupt oppression and violence....

I'm so sorry to threadjack if I have.... But maritimegirl just accidentally made a huge point.

I'm sorry, but I had to funny that one.  Halifax Transit's is "Missed your bus?  There's always tomorrow."

Hope your family, and all of this ends well (or as best it can if there are 4 dead).

Pretty much, yeah, but Moncton's a bit rougher. Still damn safe, though, by world standards.
