Suffering with mental illness remains an unknown quantity for those who do not have such afflictions. Count yourselves lucky. And remember to have patience & understanding for those who do not respond to available treatments.

/Lucky to have responded well to treatment.

Kidders house was attended to by paramedics and police multiple times in the last months of her life. Apparently she had all sorts of weirdos and nutters staying with her.
Sad stuff all around.

Do something kind for someone struggling, that is how I deal with sad stories like this.

First up, this.  After 47 years of clinical depression, having no idea the world wasn't living hell for everyone, I finally got it taken care of.  So, yeah. It can suck, and you aren't going to get help without asking, and even then, it might not work.

So rest easy, Pretty Lady. May Clark be there for you.

Second, what the heck kind of name is Camilla Fluxman Pines?  Sounds like a Yacht Rock Girl Group.

Rashida Jones.

As a young Kidder, it would work. Maybe Karen Allen for an older Kidder.

He hadn't dropped her, forgotten her, or anything. It was just too heavy for Superman to lift.

This.

I would gently amend the suggestion to include a bit more:  "Tell someone in a more remote circle of friendship / an acquaintance / coworker that you care about them and are glad they're around.  Then reach out to a friend you haven't talked to in a while and invite them - demand, if you have to - to lunch. And don't be shy telling friends you see frequently that you love them."

It's not easy, and (at least at first) it can feel weird to do, but it honest-to-anyone's-holy-figure(s) makes a difference, and makes the world a better place.

We could all be better to each other. And, surprising to me, forcing myself to reach out to others has done _wonders_ for my own miserable, self-loathing, lost-years existence. So, win-win!

Saying there's no snark, is actually the worst snark of all because you're implying there should be snark, but that consider yourself above it.

Ah, screw getting old. I think that's at the root of all these high profile suicides. They had it all in their youth, and now they realized that no matter what level of success they achieve, they're still older, slower and in pain.

For those the blind who once could see, the bell tolls for thee, and so on.

Hell, I'm only turning 50 and I think about it from time to time.

Yeah, several years back she had a manic episode from a previously undiagnosed bipolar disorder. Someone had knocked all the caps off her teeth trying to rape her. And this was a few years after a terrible car accident that left her wheelchair bound for a while.

She went through some horrible shiat.  I wish this country did more for the mentally ill. I got help 30 years ago and have kept the demons at bay thanks to modern medicine.

I've been extremely lucky in that regard. I had support and access to help. Too many people do not.

Nice to hear from those that are keeping on through the challenges of mental illness and biochemical imbalances.
Those in power that emphasize mental health care over thoughtfully discussions of restrictions (and I'm reflexively opposed to gun control that is earnestly ineffective) on access to firearms are failing their constituents.

There is a scene that's easy to miss, just after that first picture, where Lois says "Don't tell me, lung cancer", a pair of lung-shaped patches of light appear on her back and Superman says, "Not yet, thank goodness."
