As long as he doesn't do a Jewish ghetto accent, we'll be okay.

He won't be as funny as Sean Hayes as Jack. Queeny-acting gay guys are HYSTERICAL!!!!!

I am so glad I'm not alone in my opinion on that show.  Frankly I've always found it patronizing and insulting.

In Friends he was married to a woman who turned out to be a lesbian.

In Will & Grace, will he be married to a man who turns out to be straight?

Well, he'll kill off this series like he did Feed the Beast, which needed killing BTW.

He was on a break!

If his character name is Ross Geller, the show would immediately get more people to watch it.

My wife loves the show, but I have never been into it. I'm convinced it will not be looked upon fondly in years to come. Modern Family I think will do much better. Fun fact, John Barrowman tried out for the role of Will and was told he didnt act gay enough. So you can see what they were going for even in casting.

He would have been better on the original Will and Grace. If he could turn back TI-OOOHHMM.

It has its moments, and Karen's a hoot.  But the gay aspect of it seems off to me.  I like that you contrast it against Modern Family.

Racial and gay humor are touchy and hard to get right.  It needs to be making fun of the stereotypes and misperceptions, and not the subjects of the stereotypes and misperceptions.  I think Modern Family nails it in that regard.  And on more than the gay stuff.  Even going way back to when Lily was adopted and the guys announced her name.  Phil:  "Won't it be hard for her to pronounce her name own?"  Brilliant.  They picked the simple character to deliver the line, and it mocks the idea of the "l" pronunciation.

But I really don't mean to get that down on Will and Grace.  At the very least it moves the ball forward a little.  It just never really appealed to me on that particular level.

David Schwimmer was outstanding in Band of Brothers and in the OJ movie. If all I had ever seen him in was Friends I'd have had no idea how much range he had, sort of like Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber and Gettysburg.

If you want to be depressed, go ahead and look up how Lieutenant Colonel Herbert Sobel died.

To make a long story short that was my unit and as part of the promotional tour, Tom Hanks was supposedly supposed to come on over and give us a visit. I don't remember if Schwimmer was on the tour as well but either way it never ended up happening for one reason or another, if it was even real at all. I keep meaning to try and reach out to Hanks and ask him but it'd be pretty unlikely that he'd even remember.

It actually is alright if the political temper tantrums were confined to the proper tab.

Sure... the Jack character is patronizing in a lot of ways. But to pretend gay men like him don't exist is also farked up. They could had done better by having him break out of that mold every now and then though. I'm guessing that having Jack was the price they paid to convince the network to let them have a more rounded, less stereotypical Will. The Birdcage also kind of suffers from stereotypes but it's a hilarious movie and at the time, it was one of the most positive portrayals of a gay family put on film.

At any rate... Will and Grace was overall uneven. I missed the shows last couple of seasons and didn't see the revival.  But Karen was awesome. She was the only reason I stuck with the show for as long as I did. Rosario was pretty cool too.

That line.  Just reading it gives me chills.  Such an awesome series.  The lead is great in Billions.

His Sobel was amazing. Forgot he was Ross. He's underrated.

Yep. I'm gay but I'd rather watch a baseball game or listen to a loud guitar band than watch a Judy/Marilyn/Babs retrospective or listen to Madonna. It took me a while to realize that I needed to be cool with all types of being gay.

The Birdcage also kind of suffers from stereotypes but it's a hilarious movie and at the time, it was one of the most positive portrayals of a gay family put on film

Yeah, agree. Even for Nathan "Overacting? What's that?" Lane it was a bit much and oh my, Robin Williams was camp as tents, but it was a really solid script. Speaking of Nathan Lane, he was in the Broadway version but wasn't able to/didn't want to film this:

It's a terrible title, but I love that movie. Stereotypes are there (Jason Alexander's character could be the uncle of Jack on W&G) but it's beautifully acted and filmed and the humanity of all the characters is well done.

At any rate... Will and Grace was overall uneven. I missed the shows last couple of seasons and didn't see the revival.

I stopped watching after the season-ender where the characters all said "OK, maybe we're doing this wrong, maybe we should get our act together? Hahahahahahaha, not gonna happen!!!". It just felt like it had overstayed its welcome for me.
