It looks like the Packers prepped for the draft by watching Key and Peele. Their receiving corps have quite a collection of names, and judging by A. A. Ron's comments this week, not much else.

I'm going to the in-laws to watch the Browns.  We are all fans, but there is different levels of enthusiasm about this upcoming season.  They have described me as an "anchor."  I fear that I am being optimistic.  I'd be glad (well, mostly) to be wrong though.

So we get another season of "Aaron Rodgers is clearly the best quarterback in the NFL, he just doesn't have any help so that's why his stats and their record aren't as good as they should be"?

And they'll somehow still win the division with a 9-7 record because the NFC North is shiat.Packers: 9-7 (win division via tiebreaker over Vikings)Vikings: 9-7 (Cousins wins a few they should lose, and loses a few they should win)Lions: 8-8 (Patricia outsmarts himself for at least 3 losses that should have easily been wins)Bears: 6-10 (Trubisky has sophomore slump and either gets benched or hurt halfway through season).

Even when St Louis had an NFL team, I can't say that I ever watched a pre-season game.  I would rather watch paint dry than watch 3rd stringers try to make a roster as the 51st guy who ends up getting cut 4 times a year or assigned to the practice squad.

I'm looking forward to it mostly because the Mariners are turning into shiat.

Pence and Trump or the league say one word about black men kneeling and I'm out for the entire season.

I live in Arizona anyways. First it's the Suns, then I ignore the Cards.

I'll have the game on as background noise while putting the kids to bed. Probably flipping back and forth between the Sox and Pats. Was looking forward to seeing Michel but it's looking more and more like he won't be playing anytime soon. Also want to see how Berrios (or however its spelled) plays, but I won't be missing any sleep to watch, either.

If that's the line you're drawing, then you're probably not much a football fan to being with.

I am rooting for the Browns to have a good year this year. That being said, it is also good to see masochists like you come out into the sunlight to be recognized once in a while.

I will never not be fascinated with how the Packers GM kept his job so long while surrounding the best QB of this era with backup RB's and a shiat defense.  And the only reason the WR were considered any good was BECAUSE of Rodgers.   Luckily he got his ring or we might be talking about him in the same breath as Mike Trout who is surrounded by replacement level players but still manages to excel.

Here is one legit entertaining thing about NFL preseason games: when the broadcast is done by local news people, who often have little or no experience doing play by play or color, or even sports reporting at all.

You're right. I'm more bothered by the NFL's decades of brain injury and related early death and violent crime. I hope OJ's brain gets a good going over after he's gone. Considering his mother lived to age 80, it might not be anytime soon.

The strange thing this year is going to be legalized gambling on NFL games. I don't like gambling on sports and it will interesting to see if this goes the way of NBA referee corruption.

The local coverage of opening day at the new stadium for the Diamondbacks was so bad, the TV channel apologized to the team and the fans and rebroadcast an re-edited version.

The news people sat around a table and yammered about nothing in particular, certainly nothing related to baseball or the stadium.

It's worth watching, like practice is worth watching.  As a game, with a score, absolutely not.

I was going to use this as an excuse not to watch the Pats game tonight but they're having the radio guys do the TV broadcast. I like Socci so that's a plus, but Zolak can be a twit so that's a negative.

Go to a preseason game, provided that you get tickets at a reasonable price?  Sure, it's a way to see the stadium and get a sense of the spectacle that is a live NFL game.  Watch it on TV?  Not even.  What's the point?

One of the most frustrating things about the NFL is that by the end of the season you're often just watching backups anyway, thanks to injuries

I enjoy when it gets LATE into the game and the broadcast team starts bringing guests into the booth. They will talk about anything besides what is happening on the field.

Packers are going to regret cutting Nelson. Cobb will get injured before the season is half over and that means Allison is the #2 wide-out. Meanwhile, if Carr stays healthy, Nelson may end up leading the league in TD catches. And don't get started on "Cobb is younger, Jordy has slowed down, blah blah blah." Look at the stats and see how Nelson consistently outplayed him.

Jordy will be on IR before long.

A few years ago there was a long threat on football outsiders (I think) that discussed how FA WR signings are almost always a bust.
