At their moment of conception...

reminds me of the pos companies that sell water treatment systems,crappy carpeting, vacuums etc... you hand them your application and they tell you you are hired but you also need a nice suit or 2 so they loan you some money they'll get back from your commissions. fine. your first day you are told to sell the scam water treatment system to the 10 people you put down as references on your application. it was kinda funny how many references they wanted. so now you either beg your family to buy the piece of crap stuff or find a way to pay off the money you borrowed for suits you never will wear and are flat broke.

By the way, can I interest you all in my Egyptian Grain Storage program?

Our iconic product has been massively popular with the wealthy and famous for many years, and this is your big chance to get involved. I need a few people to join the team - only the first 20-30 thousand will have a shot so don't hesitate.

You know it takes some serious heave-ho to get a successful business going, but who says you can't have fun too? Hate offices? Work outside! Get a tan! Work on your physique! All while getting in on the ground floor.

Don't worry, you'll have a chance to work your way up the structure as the project progresses! You could have a lot of people working below you - we call that your "downstream" - and they'll move a lot of stuff your way... you just have to take advantage and cement things into place!

The rewards you'll get cannot be measured monetarily!

The difference is, pyramid schemes don't force their victims to victimize other people just to stay afloat.

no, submitter had it right. MLM is a pyramid scheme by another name. Lularoe, Mary Kay, any job posting that emphasizes networking opportunities and career building and growing into your position without ever actually mentioning what the job does are scams and you shouldn't take part in them. they benefit like, 10 people, tops, and guess what? you're not f*cking one of them.

If the job you want to do from home requires you to buy X amount of stuff a month and the person just above you is constantly saying things like "the regional rep here makes $8,000 a month selling these trinkets, you can too!", it is a scam.

It's strikes me as weird that they all use the exact same marketing strategies and stock phrases, with the motivational CDs, the emphasis on money. It's as if there is an official manual somewhere on how to operate an MLM and every MLM company follows it religiously.

I'm kinda surprised "Solar" hasn't had MLM leeches climb on that bandwagon.

/Yeah solar is (gonna be) where it's at -- sooner than later I'd guess
//Up front $$$ is still ludicrous.
///The marketing strategy focuses on how much you'll save --Ask how much you'll  spend? . . . (crickets, mostly)

That's because it has been honed to an exact science

Basically, it's the same as infomercial patter (which is derived from carnival barkers you see at state fairs.)

/But wait, there's more!
//How much would you pay?
///A $30 value*, yours free!
