According to the Florida Department of Health, Vibrio vulnificus is "often mislabeled as flesh-eating bacteria," though it is "important to note" it does not in fact consume one's flesh.

Many different bacteria can cause Necrotizing fasciitis, the condition known as flesh-eating bacteria.  It gets in the soft tissues, spreads very quickly, and the flesh-eating is caused by toxins given off by the rapidly-spreading bacteria.  Vibrio is different in that it's one of the rarest causes, involves a single bacteria type, and can present without the same pain and swelling as other types.  By the time a person shows visible symptoms, it's often too late.

Interesting discussion of raw vs cooked oysters.  I eat them raw, with a side of fugu, and wash it all down with a pint of unpasteurized milk.

I have nothing to add other than that show is awesome. My therapist recommended it since I spend most of my time with the news or SVU on, and she said I needed something mindless and funny, but that I'd not get annoyed with. She was right. I really enjoyed it.

This.  Between Santa Clarita Diet and BoJack Horseman, I've been really enjoying Netflix lately.

The way the husband and daughter are so blase about it all and dive into things head first is a trip. And Drew Barrymore is still funny and sexy.

Still haven't started the second season, but I think what amuses me most about that show so far is how much Berrymore genuinely loves the part-you can just tell she's having fun with it.

I don't think you're supposed to enjoy BoJack Horseman.

Second season is just as good or even better than the first. Starts to get into the myth of whatever happened to her. Awesome show

Reason 349 I don't eat shellfish: flesh-eating bacteria.

the second season is fun, but....  ok.  it really seems that the writers had enough story for 1 season, because season 2 really just starts throwing shiat at the wall to see what sticks.  It's not bad, it just gets pointless.

Can't watch anything named after that smoggy stinkin' oven of a hellhole full of Valley refugees and spiders and snakes even if my family name does show up on street signs, parks, and schools

Maybe if they changed the name to Piru Diet I could tolerate it

Can't wait to show this story to the Mrs. Maybe she'll stop ordering these overpriced snot rockets. Disgusting, and to pay $20/half dozen for the privilege!?

I'm going to assume your family name is "Shart," as in "William Shart Park"

Nope, think bandito, Gorn, and a bogus adventure. Not as in "Oy, I've shart me pantaloons"
