I_Am_Weasel: Paul Ryan's medical report?

No, this is something he doesn't need to worry about.

People really don't like being reminded that they're made out of meat that may be edible to some other animal.

Not quite as good as her Feed zombie trilogy (Feed, Deadline, Blackout), but pretty good nevertheless.

You can get rid of them in 3 days with some chocolate chip cookies and milk.

That's not a tapeworm at that point, it's a Go'Auld.

I always wanted a tape worm. I caught the bubonic plague once.

If she ingested it how did it get from her digestive tract to her freaking spine?!?

OK So Amuse Me: If she ingested it how did it get from her digestive tract to her freaking spine?!?

Parasites have weird life cycles and tapeworms are no exception.

As far as tapeworms that affect humans go, the 'pork tapeworm' is one of the more common ones. The adult tapeworm lives in a human intestine and it lays eggs that you poop out.

These eggs, if they are lucky, get eaten by a pig and hatch in the pig intestine. They hatch into a motile intermediate stage that burrows into the pig's digestive tract and eventually gets into the bloodstream. Eventually they get into either the neural or muscle (aka delicious pork) tissue and form cysts.

This is one of many reasons why undercooked pork of dubious providence can be super dangerous to consume. If you eat a cyst-laden cut of pork then it will do the same thing it did in the pig - burrow into your intestine, get into your bloodstream, and potentially turn your brain into swiss cheese.

I'm still more a fan of Every Heart a Doorway, but I admit I like her fantasy work more.

Well, seems like my body not tolerating beef or pork after my Gallbladder removal may have an actual up-side.

You'll forgive me for not clicking the link you so graciously provided, I hope but it sounds like a BIG nope.
