Anthony Bourdain serves up 6 Emmy noms from the great Unknown

Intentional pun, or serendipity?

I completely understand why some people never cared for his personality, but you can't deny that Parts Unknown was an incredibly well-produced and written show. It could've been hosted and narrated by Ted Nugent and I probably would've still watched most episodes for the cinematography alone.

Pity nominations. Meh.

Never much cared for his shows. If I wanted to watch dudes drink beer and shoot the shiat, I'd look out the window at neighbors.

I have been watching that show on Netflix, enjoying the different cultures and wanting to try the foods.

Wow! 6 nominations! And all he had to do was kill himself. Good job, chefy

I miss him. Such a kindred soul, I'm sorry he felt the world was so cruel.

His death is the only reason I don't kill myself, I imagine my loved ones would be as devastated.

fark it, the world is collapsing, our nation is no longer a thing of beauty, everything is corrupt.  They won't care.  DO IT.

Yup. Anthony B. was my spirit animal. I was fortunate to meet him, if only for an insignificant moment.

I read "Confidential" while I was a young man temding bar in a swanky restaurant (the book had just come out). Was moved to tears of laughter even if I didn't quite understand all the culinary stuff. He nailed the absolutely ridiculous, chaotic nature of the business, and will be missed.

Ted Nugent would have been killing every wild animal and farking every 12-year-old. That would not have made for acceptable television.

Kinda hard to imagine Ted Nugent in Beirut, Lebanon doing what Bourdain did ( or anyplace else in the Middle-East).  In fact, he's enough of an a-hole to get himself arrested for deliberately insulting the religion(s)* of the people over there.

* both Jews and Muslims

"I understand there's a guy inside me who wants to lay in bed, smoke weed all day, and watch cartoons and old movies. My whole life is a series of stratagems to avoid, and outwit, that guy."

It probably would have been better if he reached a compromise with that guy.

I'm doing that too, but now the things he (frequently) says about death are so sad.  The Marseille episode was especially so because he was talking about death to his close friend who found him dead.

As long as cnn gets nothing for their self promoting in memorium show that only had cnn people ( so it seemed ) talking about him. The man had another show for years and another mini show besides that but one would never know that from the cnn special.
It made me angry. Not a single mention of other things, besides their show and his books.

Anyhow- I hope the Bhutan ep wins for cinematography.

And now I am going back to being sangry.

nah, he'd be too scared to go.  Claim something about random people hating Mercans, and how his life would be in danger.

/seriously Ted! Canada isn't that bad.
